Curing in low <20% humidity

Harvested a tiny stunted auto plant a week ago, trimmed it, and hung it in a dark closet. Dealing with sub 20% humidity in my house, after 3 or 4 days small branches snapped easily. Only 0.30oz dry.
Jarred the meager bud and put a caliber hygrometer in the jar... after a day humidity has risen to 42% and is stalled at that #.

Recently got some 58% humidity packs.. should I toss one in? Or leave alone?

I've got 5+ ounces closing in on week 8 in my room so I'd like to have a strategy for drying and curing that.

Going forward it might be a good idea not to trim before drying. Just cut the branch off and hang that (fan leaves and all). Adding a humidifier to your drying room isn't a bad idea either.

My goal when curing is to get down to 62% RH. If you jar up the buds, throw in a boveda 62% humidity pack, and the RH in the jar is below 62%, it means they dried too long.
If you jar up the buds and the RH shows in the 60's/70's, that's a good sign. You'll then want to burp until you get down to 62%RH.

As far as your current bud, it won't hurt to throw in the 58% pack you have. Just keep in mind that once you reach a certain humidity level and the buds are dried up, there's really no going back.

I grow till harvest under 20%RH all of the time. The key is when living in a dry climate is keeping your drying slower by using a humidifier in a closet or like I do, dry in cardboard boxes. I put a hygrometer (dial type) in the box where I have dental floss hangers and lay my stems on those. I watch it until it goes down to 40% (about 6 days) then trim the buds off the stems and put them in clean pizza box for a day. Then they get jarred at around 65% RH and burp until 62-63%. Usually it's a small 4-6 plant grow.

I have an ultrasonic humidifier I can stick in the closet, but im guessing I'll have to prevent the fine mist from contacting the plants otherwise maybe I could induce bud rot.

Not a hint of rot/mold in my grow room.. holding steady at 35 to 40%. Knock on wood.

I may try putting the bud in the cardboard box and then in the dark closet. Hopefully the box will slow down the dry and contain some moisture. Also will trim less aggressively.

This was the trim before hanging. ..

Thanks for the suggestions.
