Ok, so when I have 1/2 amber and 1/2 cloudy trichomes and full resign sacks, I leave the girls in the dark for 3 days ( I have read multiple places that the trichomes are used as sort of a sun/light screen and leaving them in the darlk, makes them produce more tri's as well as could make the girl up to 30% more potent "The Stichting Institute of Medical Marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden. One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.

SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."!) After 3 days they smell very strong, then I trim, hang upside down until the stems "just about" break as I want to keep a little moisture in the buds, I then put them in air tight jars, first day open then once for about and hour close and repeat that for a week or until the moisture content has come down and the nugs start to form nice and tight, after a week or so Ill do it every couple of days. I am asking this from some good botanists, sometimes on some strains the jars will smell like Hay for a while (I can remedy this by taking a fresh (non dried nug and throwing it in the jar for a day), but "why" does that hey smell sometimes happen? These are fully mature (not too soon not too late, no dead leaves. Question #2 is there a way to keep that ridiculous smell when i harvest and even dry, once dry I crack open a nug and the whole house "reaks" but when I cure, that smell is substantially less, what can I do to keep that really dank smell? #3 When I am curing, and I burp for the first week, what is the proper time to leave the jars open (30 seconds, 1 minute, 30, 60)? You guys have always helped me out before and now with the abundance of support of weed I hope I can get some good answers! Thanks again all! Added a little pic as a Thank you for any answers.

I would say she is done and its totally natural for leaves to curl when the bud is finished 100%, are all the hairs red or is that the light? as for the smell, dry it within a few days....like 95% dry and open the jar/bag once a day for 30 min or so. until super crispy dry for long term storge. I have about 6 lbs i dryed like that and still smells like it was just cut yesterday. If your going to smoke it soon tho, dont dry it that much cause it will be harsh. and if you do dry it like that just moisten it up before you smoke it with a damp paper towel in the jar/bag. works great for me

A slow dry will give a smoother smoke with less smell ime.

The hairs are nice and dark red (not the light and thanks :-), so u say super crispy? Do you mean like you break it up and it has no stickiness and is dry (like perfect for a joint?) ( it would take about 3 weeks of curing for it to be that dry in a dark place with little moisture), What about the inconsistent "hay smell"? I also want to keep that really deep pungent smell ( I might not be able to, but when I harvest, I can smell literally an entire house up with once break of a nug, I also get that with a freshly dried buds, but curing removes that great odor, do you or anyone else have suggestions. I am open to all. Thanks guys/gals. Also, that damn hay smell, what do I do to "Stop" that or is that just part of curing?

like I said I have about 6 lbs of stink u out the house, neighbors can smell it, weed right now.

I dryed it super quick because of the location I was drying was prone for unwanted people just showing up at any time they feel good and fukn ready, ass holes!! but it was all dry with in 6-7 days with a little help from a dehumidfier and heater with a couple fans in the room. Once it was about 95% dry,(crispy, like crumbles into a pile of dust crispy!! but the core of the stems was still a little bendable and would not snap on the larger buds) i bagged it up. Every day I opened the bag for 30 min or so and closed it back up. I did this for another 2 weeks. and now its all so dry i could sit on the bag once and it would all turn into shake(actually did sit on a dry bag and made tinc. out of it cause it crushed so quick). So dry its not smokeable but it still has that dank pungent smell u want to capture, dont we all!! I used to start curing went it was about 50% dry and would come out like fresh lawn clippings, or a pile of musty old hay.

this is key!!
It has to be alot dryer to begin the cure process, then everyday, exhaust all the gas build-up outof the jar or bag for 1/2 hr or so. After 2-3 weeks of doing that... the bud is very brittle so you have to be gentle with it.

when I need smoke, Ill take afew choice buds out to smoke for the next couple days and put them in a jar with a damp paper towel. after afew hrs in the jar the buds are nice and soft and ready to cut up and roll into a joint super stinky dank smelling and smooth and tastes like it smells.

hope i made that process clear for you if not just tell me...

I gota add this...

others may do it differently than this and im sure they do. this is the best way to keep my smoke all year, its still smooth, still dank, still bright green or purple!! and doesnt have that commercial smell to it. I found, if it has even a tiny bit of moisture in it, it will turn into commercial, the smell and the color goes away. My partner slow dryed his and never let it get crispy.... four months later guess what? im breaking out fresh smelling dank, and he has $20 an 8th commercial....it was the same weed to begin with

try it this way with a little bit, like a few nice buds first and see if works for you. it does for me
