Curing

Hey guys, I'm about a week into curing and it seems to me the stuff I left out to air dry is better than what's in the jars. Everything that's curing is pretty much dry but has a not so great smell to it. I've cured before so I know I'm doing it right but just want to know when or if that pungent skunk smell will come back :wall:

If you cured before it would seem to me that you know that cured buds are much smoother than dried, are you sure the buds in the jar arn't too dry? do you use a hygrometer to check? seems to me that properly cured buds should have that nice weed smell, I'm no expert, just my opinion.

It could be that he jarred them too early, trapping that 'grassy' chlorophyll smell. The air-dried probably had the chance to evaporate more of that smell out.

I don't have a hygrometer and I might have put them in jars a day or two early. Only had the lids on for a few hours then burped them almost all day to dry more. Did the exact same last year with waayy better results and same strain

I have a question about curing that I have been wondering... After u hang your buds ( air dry ) for the right amount of time, what does putting them in a brown bag/paper bag do to the buds ? is this necessary, and what would an experienced grower do, i have buds drying going to be ready to cure shortly,

Cheers,

once dry, go directly to jars. if i have a branch that breaks off or something simular, i will just use a bag to dry instead of hanging on line to dry, then jar......peace

In my experience , most ppl including me was choping too early. I do not go by the weeks the seed company says anymore , now I check the hairs. I wait till most of the redish/orange hairs receed back into the bud then check trichs. It will be damn near impossible to cure premature bud they way u are use to it smelling it , but it will be smoooth and get u high. I say if you grow it till its ready u wont have all these curing probs.. Good Luck!

The brown paper bag method slows down the dry. Its a good dry method if RH is to low. The bag acts as a moisture wick to allow them to continue to dry but a lot slower and very evenly.
