No, from what I understand all felons are barred from being cgs. Under the old law only drug related felons were banned from being a cg ..now all felons....but we can still be our own cg just not have patients.

drug felonies are still barred
violent felonies on their list are also barred now
all other felonies must be at least ten years old

most of the felonies on the list are murder, rape, terrorist related charges

most felons will still be able to be caregivers if it's ten years old

Its kind of funny (sad) how i could get busted growing 8 years ago and charged with felony drug trafficking for growing cannabis but now that i can grow legally i can't be a caregiver...

HB 4834 " Next, the bill synchronizes the definitions of “patient” and “qualifying patient” as well as “caregiver” and “primary caregiver,” and prohibits anyone from serving as a caregiver if s/he has, within the last 10 years, been convicted of a felony involving illegal drugs or
defined as an “assaultive crime.” The original law included a lifetime ban for those convicted of illegal drug felonies, so this is also a slight improvement." Here's a good place to find out what crimes in MI are defined as assaultive....

Hope this helps.
