Cutting tops first

Is cutting some of your top colas first really a good idea? Then harvesting the rest a week later or what not? I have a plant who's top colas trichomes are just how I like them but the lower, inner branches are still not quite there yet. So it could benefit me in this respect however wouldn't there also be a downside and some risk to doing this?

personal preference. I usually take samples from the lower broken branches, I'd never top a flowering plant personally.

But like he said ... The top is ready and the bottom could use a week extra. I mean really, the tops will lose THC if the trichomes go to long...but the lower part of the plant will reach its peek...what's the better option ? I'd think top the good buds Because the highest level on thc always goes to the top (crown)

I will crop in three stages, each a week apart. Take the top 1/3 of the budded part of each branch. The next buds down the branch will swell up.
