DaBigg's Third grow

Second pic is nasty.... Friggin Blackberry camera! To be a little more descriptive, what your seeing here is my two custom built boxes. Smaller one is still a work in progress.... Runnin 4= 40w Fluorescent 48" tubes, insulated and reflected with Mylar boards. Contemplating doing a bubble or mist system in half of it for cloning.... still researching tho... The second box is pretty much the same with the exception of twice the space and 8= 40watters. Only doing the cloning and half of the vegging at my location so this is what i decided to do. So far, the builds are what i believe to be in my very inexperienced opinion, "DIALED" and have been quite happy with the results. Decided to add more pics from the first two go arounds that were all in all a wonderful learning experience and look to be worth the effort in the next month or so :)

Ok, i have finally decided to buck up and give ya all a view into my third grow.
It's not a pretty beginning so no wisecracks please.... newbie in training:wall:
Previously stated that my boxes were " Dialed " Hehe, not really. The veg box is really doing what i was hoping for and feelin good with current temp.,humidity and airflow. Cloning box is still a work in progress as you will see from the poor condition my babies start out in.... These pics are from two weeks ago and everyone has rebounded and is doing much better!

Well, not sure if anybody cares, :) but i haven't posted lately due to my indecisiveness whether to keep trying to clone in the cheap plastic terrariums ( which i was having good luck with till recently) or make the move and convert cloning box to an areoponic system. Experience is welcome to chime in if anybody has any advise

Update. So i made the decision over the weekend to buck up and build my cloning box into an areoponics setup. So far, have only invested 120.00 in parts and rocks for the system. Will get it up and functioning this evening and will get pics too. The layout will allow 20 clippings to be going per cycle. My system is essentially the same build design as the one on the link below. Made mine a little more low profile and wider longer reservoir.

I also added an air stone to this build. Had an unused air pump laying around and figured it could only help. Probably not necessary but what the hell right?

Finally! Well after countless modifications to my original design concept, i have my areoponicator! Hehe, ok not really a word but sounded good :) 3 days and 120.00 bucks later, i now feel a little more professional. Still some minor modifications to be made but the system is implemented! Sorry for the dark pics but should get the jist of it.

Update... Tis the weekend again and not soon enough! Been chomping at the bit to modify and adjust my cloner. Started 18 clippings for the first test batch. By the way, just wanna state that this batch will be my 4th grow.... The first batch was 16 plants that were bout two weeks old. They were given to me due to friend moving.... hehe, and a small mite problem. I have yet to pay a cent for any beans or girls. Definitely digging the advantages of perpetual growing and cloning. Here's a couple shots of the test batch

Hey all. Been a spell since i have had time to login and update.... Quite a few changes have been implemented round here. My first attempt with the areoponic box build was not a total success. Did get rooting from the clippings, just had to modify to fix leaks and added a drain and spout to the system for more convenient cleaning scenario. Realized carrying my reservoir full of 10 gallons of water to dump out was just not gonna fly:)

Here's a couple shots of what's veggin at the moment. The youngest ones went into 6" buckests on 5/4/10 under 18/6 cycle. The front row and the large gangly one went into veg box on 4/10/10..... The youngest ones (7 diff. strains)are from another cloner. White Widow, Jack Herer, Maui, Juicy Fruit, Shaman, Kali chakra, and Blueberry cross w/NL.
Aside from the WW, any experienced advise with the other strains is greatly appreciated. Not familiar with their traits when grown indoors, quality vs. quantity, big and gangly or short and bushy? Stuff like that. Lol, and which is worth the effort:hump:

So question to all you that clone... Is discoloration of the stem from green to purplish a fairly common thing? Obviously different strains have different strokes but i wanna make sure i am correct in thinking stress will affect strains differently.

I usually see discoloration on my clones starting a couple days before they root, after transplanting they are usually fine a couple days later. Looks like a nice setup on that cloner btw. I've been wanting to invest in a bubble cloner... but rockwool and humidity dome seems to work with good success.

Cool. That's what i thought. Yeah rockwool and dome is how i started this adventure and did have decent success. So far, the clippings in the cloner tho are definitely healthier looking and showed a lot more aggressive root structure. I have a feeling that the other big change i made going from the powder rooting compound to the gel compound is adding to the positive effects i am seeing.

I did make another change too. I am trying the Rapid Rooter pre ph'd sponge cubes. Just like the rockwool cubes, but are pre soaked in a ph solution.

Would there be an added benefit to pumping a little Co2 into the dome of my cloner? Do clones utilize Co2 in their current stage to that degree?
