Dam it!

Hey everyone haven't posted in a while.. been busy, finished my blue mystic grow, came out good. I now have a veg tent with my t5's for flowering and I bought a 600 watt big kahuna hps fan etc...in a bigger tent for flowering.

onto the bad news..


So after I finished that grow I had 1 super lemon haze going, 1 blue dream... then I acquired 4 M.O.B clones from a buddy a week ago. I put them in the veg tent with the other two... checked them today, spider mites on the back of the clone leaves, very visible.... not as many on the super lemon or blue dream but noticeable. I tossed all my plants, all my pots i had around, all my water jugs, sprayers etc, I had a bag of roots organic soil opened I'm tossing that. my flower tent has been closed the whole time. both tents are located in a house basement. no carpet.... now what should i do?

Sell your grow gear on Craigslist. If yer gonna toss yer plants every time you get mites then you might as well give up now.

I like Safer EndAll. It is pretty cheap. I would hit clones up with something like that before you bring them into your garden. Maybe also use it on your plants in veg every once in a while, as a preventative measure.

I've had an attack from the mites in the past, from clones i aquired. I used a pesticide safe for fruits, vegetables, weed, etc.... says on the bottle how much to use, and it kills spider mites. One bit of information : no matter what you use, spray liberally, especially under the leaves, and keep on top of it. Even if you think the mites are gone keep treatments going. Don't let up, and eventually those fuc***s will disappear. Grow supply or garden store will set you up with some mite killer.

Azamax did the trick for me. I have had one infestation, last summer. And yep, came from clones. The Azamax works great. Don't waste your money on the aerosol bombs. Sure, it knocks 'em down but I think they wake up and then drink it lol.
Once you get rid of 'em make up a glass of the stuff and dip your clones in it for the next grow or two to be safe.

Like tet says, azomax works great. I switch between azomax and an omri listed product called organicide. Organicide is inexpensive and works great, it just doesn't smell all that good. Azo can get very expensive if used a lot.

I was told to toss them by the guy at htg supply. i don't plan on tossing them every time this was the first time its happened and I just went by what the guy at the store told me to do with them, as he made it out to be like i was totally fucked. he mentioned using one of the "bombs" which i would rather not do, all I want to know is should I wash my tents down with something? is that what Azamax is for? .. I plan on starting a new strain of seeds, I would just like to do what i can to " sanitize " the areas first.
I had a bag of soil that was opened, there to..should that be disposed of.

They aren't on the walls of your tent, there's no reason for them to be. Nothing to eat there. Azamax will kill the mites and the eggs. It's the eggs that are the problem. Bombs will only kill the adults. A good application of Azamax to your plants is all it should take, but like I said dip your clones too. I only did that for one or two rotations.

np, good luck. Be prepared to do a second application a week later if there's any sign. That can happen if you missed any underneath the leaves, etc.

I don't have any plants at all in tents right now.. I'm going to try some new strains from seed soon. im going to wipe down the tents, do you think that soil will be fine to use? it was a bag of roots organic slightly opened. wasn't in the tent ( Obviously )... I'm probably making this out to be more then it is... like its a massive virus infestation airborne lol. Just wanna take any precautions before i re-plant.

The soil should be fine. If you haven't thrown away your pots already, just rinse them down with a chlorine solution, or spray them with the Azamax if you want to.

I second the "second" treatment, a third wouldn't even hurt. Don't want spider webs in your buds, lol! Seriously though, just keep checking under those leaves and you'll be good. At least now you know what they look like.

Do a second application in about 3 days, then stretch it out to like 4 or 5 then one last one in 3 days, then just regular preventive applications, i make these weak compared to then I'm infested applications.

Also not sure what your using for grow mediums, but I run organic and use Neem meal, its great as a preventative, neem oil helps knock them down, but not remove. There are also a bunch of natural ways such as garlic spray and hot pepper spray.

I think its funny how the shop said toss it all, when I talk to the shop, it was like I personally had a disease.

Neem is a repellant not a poison. It is really only useful on the plant.

I wouldn't be so sure. In a well ventilated room, once mites get in - and they will - they will be everywhere. Mites are small enough to ride wind currents as a method of dispersion. Definitely wipe down the walls and floors.

Not sure about roots, I make my own organic soil and add 1 cup per CF, this cooks for 4 weeks before I use it.

I use neem in my soil, I top dress with it, and have even used it in a "tea", it will help rid of bugs, but it better at repelling.

Ive heard great things about these pest strips. Easy to use, cheap, and since your plants are still young, shouldnt be bad for the nugs if you hang one for a couple/few weeks.

They work great, but like anything mites can become immune to them. I recently got clones from a friend that were infested with a two spot mite that laughed at the NPS (even brand new ones in a confined area) and nearly wiped out my veg room. Mighty Wash and a big Azamax soil drench finally got them in check after i tossed the most infected plants.
