Dangerous precedents on not seating Roy Moore

I think it takes 67 votes unless they suspend the rules. They only have 52.

It's not to say they won't move to a simple majority for everything and eliminate the fillibuster as well as special rules like the bird rule or the rule governing who they seat.

That would piss off a serious part of the country. If they ever really did lose control, payback would be a bitch, and they know it.

But today, it takes 67. Just like impeachment. You need all the dem/indie votes, plus 19 republicans.

He will win. The Republicans will refuse to seat him despite him being legally elected after all his mall-banning activities being well known.

Once they set this precedent they will use it again - on the Democrats - for whatever reason they find convenient. Very dangerous.
It's up in the air yet, nothing's etched in stone.

A lot can happen between now and December 12th. Of course he's unfit for the senate, but 45 is equally unfit for his position.

The majority of Alabama is pretty stupid. But if Hannity tells them Moore should go, they might believe it.

Just think if you had a good job with a company who told you, 'We're transferring you to our Alabama facility. It's nothing personal, you won't be there forever.'

I caught a program on msnbc last night where one of the guests said that if Moore wins, they will boot him and Sessions will step down as AG and fill the senate seat, and then Trump will name Pompeo as AG.

Seeing as how Sessions has recused himself from the whole Russia mess this will allow Trump to fill the AG seat with someone that can do his bidding. Makes sense, but I don’t know how feasible all that shuffling around really is.

I agree, a dangerous thing to do. I think all they have to do is isolate and quarantine him. No committees, no nothing, no influence, just limit him to a vote. Six years as a do nothing; a waste of Alabamas power and influence in the Senate.

Exactly- a discredited and ineffective republican is more than welcome
