dankmonkeys first grow!

hello I just started my grow 4 days ago I am using Reggie seeds my set up is hyponex potting soil by scotts it contains:
-peat
-sphagnum peat
-perlite
-plant food which includes: 0.04% ammoniacal nitrogen, 0.03% nitrate nitrogen, 0.01% available phosphate, 0.03% soluble potash.
-and a wetting agent
a single CFL bulb and water
later on I intend on using coffee grounds as a organic plant food to boost N levels and natural organic sugar to boost my plant carbohydrates I wanted to use worms but ran out of money lol does anyone have any tips the would like to extend my way I am trying to stay as organic as possible I don't want to use chems on my baby. Thank you for the help!

I could be wrong but I think you are going to need at least 2cfl bulbs for one plant.

ok I get paid Monday so ill get another light do you think I would be a good idea to get a hps and use I with a CFL?

what wattage is the CFL? Is it for veg or veg and flower?
Coffee is very acidic and will fuck your PH levels, an old grower I know advised to avoid it because getting the PH back to where it needs be is a bitch
got cow manure near you?

23 I'm not growing in a big space and my pot is kinda small as for the coffee ill lists to you and avoid the ph drama lol yeah my town is surrounded by dairies lol

CFL is not ideal and 23w will be pretty pitiful for flowering, I use 2x 23w to veg 4x plants but move to 400w HPS for flower so I've not much advice on flowering under CFL, check the CFL section and/or wait for someone me learned than I to reply

no worries, it's what a forum is for , with the CFLs you need 6500K or Cool colour for your veg cycle and 2500k or warm white for the flower cycle
The HPS is my preference for flowering, lots here use CFLs, or LED's there's a whole lot of selection, poke around the forum a bit and you'll see what options are out there

My grow up until the last few days was done with all CFL I was using 2 bulbs to start but later changed to 4 bulbs per plant to get better coverage. Like Fluff said its 6500k for veg and 2500 per flower but me personally I had good luck with half 6500 and half 2500 to mix the color spectrum up a bit. So I started to use 1x 6500 and 1x 2500 per plant but later doubled it as the plant got bigger and needed more light. Home depot will sell just the cord and socket for like $4 or something and if you want hoods its a little more maybe $6. I'm not an expert and I'm learning just like you but that's what worked for me so far.

And light splitters may save you a little money to its a sock with 2 sockets built into it so each lamp can become 2, 4 or six bulbs. Its like an adapter. they are like $2 each for splitters.

If you want I can let you know some of the mistakes I made and save you some time since I'm about 3 weeks before finishing my very first grow.

Random bag seeds since its my first grow and I made every mistake possible so when I get home tonight I will make you up a list so you don't make the same ones. My next grow I plant to get some good seeds but for now its all I had.

sounds great dude yeah I just working with seeds I got out me and my wife's oz of reg i really thank you guys for your help i really want to take these plants to the next level but as organically as possible ya know?

I'll let you figure out the order i learned to grow . started with CFL and graduated to LED and bigger box etc. first grow pulled trash cause i harvested too soon and no idea how to dry/cure. then my next grow were seed from herbies (sour diesel) came out great in DWC vs dirt *shit was fast*. now im on my 3rd grow with Grapefruit (no pic yet) and shits crazy. dont get discouraged if you fuck up or its not working. try other things.

I enjoy trying to help out new growers. I'm 60 now and retired 6 years ago do to a car accident. Took 4 years to get better. So now I grow herb and am now able to enjoy life.
Sometimes people come on a bit strong in how you should improve your setup... Some people don't understand what a budget it I guess... I started out 11 years ago in a
4x6x4 space. Slowly as I could afford it I've expanded 4 times. This is a marathon I'm going to run the rest of my life.

I wanna run this marathon too I'm starting out with a grow space of about 2X1.5X5 eventually I plan on getting a bigger home and dedicating a room to growing

So your herbies seeds did way better? I been looking at their blue dream and GDP seeds

Ok so some of the mistakes I made on first grow are
1. gave nutes way too soon and my plants started turning yellow ( should have done just water for two weeks or so I think)
2.used clear starting pots ( roots turned green and started to mold) changed over to dark dixie cups then moved to 4 gallon
3.tried to top my plants way too early and stunted the growth
4.let cfl bulbs get too close ( plant grew fast and got burned)
5.too much water ( stick your finger down into the dirt just a little bit and if its moist you are ok)
