I hear it mostly only works on 'white' strains
And that such a finishing technique probably does more to help the curing process (ridding the plant of crap in the leaves) than it does to create more trichomes
I've even heard of it making milky trichomes turn amber very quickly

Most people at least agree that more than 3 days is pointless

Think of it this way: It doesn't make enough of a difference that most people are doing it yet. And if it really did make much of a difference, it probably would have became more popular years ago.

I just read a jorge cervantes article on this and he said that when its dark humidity drops which will increase resin production its not the dark its the low humidity He also said its best to cut before lights hit them because when dark plants send energy created to the roots and when lights come on it sends those sugars to the plant which can lead to a harsher smoke. Im gonna pull all 6 of my plants and give them a 24 hour dark period and remove them from roots under a green light cant hurt can only help I say.

I would go with at least 36 hours personally. With 24 hours your plant is only missing 1 cycle of 12 hours of light which might not be enough to freak it out all that bad, with 36 it is at least losing 2. When I go to do it I will let the light shut off like normal one night, and then harvest 2 mornings later (so 36 hours dark, with 2 light cycles lost).

24 hrs = 1 lost light cycle
36 hrs = 2
72 hrs = 6
