02-09:

pH was 6.08 tonight, so didn't mess with it.

(I swapped the positions of the plants.)

Wow! The top leaves on plant B really grew big since yesterday.

Beautiful new leaves! Keep growing!

Still not sure what's causing the leaves on plant A to curl like this. Could it be a genetic defect? Environment is the same for both plants.

Still growing, though.

Is the light normally lower than what it is in your pictures? if not put it within about 2 inches of the plants.
Oh yeah, I have to raise up the lights to take the photos. They're normally a lot lower. Thanks for the advice, though. Actually, I could lower them even more. I'll give it a try. Thanks, bluntly.

I have a question for you, bluntly, since you've grown plants before. Do you have any idea what might be causing one of my plants (plant A) to get curled leaves like that? They really curl up in the direction from stem to leaf tip. I can't find a picture of that in my book on marijuana plant problems.plant-A-side.jpg

02-12:

Changed water. Added nutes in the same levels as previously. pH was initially low, under 5.5, so raised it.

  • pH=5.73
  • EC=2144
  • ppm=1079
  • water temp=69 F
I had the lights lowered as far as possible for a couple of days. But that raised the air temp to the upper 70's. Not sure if it's just a coincidence or not, but the plants are now developing light colored leaves. That would suggest a nutrient deficiency. Not sure why that would happen. I cut the lower leaves off of plant A, because they were dry and damaged.

I wish i could give you some advice on that, but from what i can see your doing everything right. Your plants leaves look very healthy! They may just be curling because of their weight, or genetics possibly. If you got more seeds, and some time, you could just start flowering now and see how it goes. Man, im sorry this grow isn't turning out so great. don't give up, your hard work will pay off in the end! hydro can be tricky, but its totally worth it.

Sadly, my plants died. Something was wrong because their growth was always stunted and SLOW. Either I timed the sprayers to go on too often or not often enough or something or... the nutrient solutions were bad. I say that because when the bottles arrived the caps were leaking and the safety seals were broken on all 4 bottles. I suspect that the seller might have replaced the expensive Advanced Nutrients products with something bogus... maybe. They weren't an official AN supplier and their prices were a lot lower than anyone else's. I bought new bottles directly from the company and will try again with a different system. Will start a new journal for that grow. Got 3 seeds sprouting right now.

Yes, the nutrients that I used were definitely bogus. I ordered new bottles of AN nutes from an authorized seller and compared the liquids they contained to the old stuff I used. The old bottle that was supposed to contain SensiGrow A contained a clear liquid, but the real stuff is dark brown like Coca Cola or coffee. So I believe that the seller replaced the contents of that bottle (if not all of them) with something cheap, like salt water maybe. Nice way for them to make some extra money... fraudulently!

Anyway, I have a new plant growing in real AN nutes and it's thriving really well, growing just like a weed. Lesson learned.
