Dawn detergent and mold.

Anyone know if Dawn detergent breaks down trichomes. I had some mold and add a little bit to the rinse water. Hope I didn't screw it up!

There's no such thing as a safe soap for a plant. Most remedies that use have extra oil added. Like mineral or plant oil.... Using it straight with water can effect the waxy layer on the leaf surface. It's harsh.

Soap doesn't work on mold. The water is now sticking better. Always expect mold. Treat the plants with a safe fungicide even though it might not be there. Start at seedling and treat every week until finished. Don't wait for it to show up.

Increasing the air circulation is the next step.

Well, i didn't leave it in very long. So, hopefully there won't be too much damage.

From now on, I'm going to dry it all the way before i put it in a jar. Thanks.

You're taking a chance of getting sick. You can't smoke moldy bud. You can't wash it clean....but you know this.

Adding water more then likely made it worse.

Thanks, I only have had the problem in jars when i haven't turned it over to air it out.

Probably a good idea for this IDIOT would be to wash the jar before I re-use it too.

I think I've made every mistake possible so there's not anymore to make.

It's the mold spores that spoil the bud. No matter what, it'll contain a mold spore. They tear houses down over mold. Breathing spores through walls. Smoking a moldy bud is not advised. There's too much weed in the world to risk it.

Stay safe.

It's for butter if i can see any tricomes after i put it tbrough my turbo dryer. Stomach acid will kill any spores. And a hammer might knock some sense in my head.

Soak it in everclear. Make a tincture. You can apply heat for a while. Whiskey, rum, tequila also work but they have more water. Brew it for a while.

I had great circulation but someone said i was drying it way too fast so i let it sit for 5 days. I'd rather have it dried all the way than have mold.

2nd to last grow I had some mold and i think I ignorantly reused that jar.

Yeah, run the empty jars through the dish water or wash them down with some bleach. Mist the storage space with straight 3% hydrogen peroxide.

You can use the same jars just gotta sterilize them and use new bands and lids. I did that moldy bud sheet once by tossing them in jars to fast.

YouTube Chester copperpot drying and curing. Easy fool proof method. I may know him, he may be a good guy. ;-)

I forgot about hydrogen peroxide :-( . I rinsed the bud with deluded HP last time and it was fine or at least was viable.

Yeah, jars will be sterilized next time 4 sure!

I burn through the little jugs of it. I need to order 35% and mix my own. I clean air stones with it. I need it stronger for that. Cleaning compost equipment too.

I freaked out and used Dawn but now i remember the HP.

I'm hoping there are some tricomes left because it was only in the solution for a minute.

This next grow I'm journaling hoping someone will follow it and catch any mistakes b4 i commit them..

I inspected them. They still have trichomes but definitely not as robust. Mold is gone was thinking I'd flush them in the in peroxide but figure the dawn did the job. Going to make cannabutter out of it and watch it closely. Thanks for the support and wisdom.
