Day 20 of Veg Pics... Thoughts? and Q's

Hey its my 20th day of vegatative growth and I wanted to get some feedback on how you think the plants look... thanks

Little bit of a back round:
2 - Plants (sex unknown) about 5 inches tall
4 - 26W 6500k CFL
2 - 26W 3500k CFL
Temps around 80-86F
PH around 6.8-7
24 hours of light

I was planning on flowering either this monday(week 3) or the next. I dont want the plants to get so bushy that my lights cant support them.
I was also planning on starting some nutrients for blooming but Im using MG and i know its time released nutes... is it a bad idea to give them more or should it not matter if I introduce it slowly?

Also when I do flower, Im going to go out and grab a couple 68W 2700k CFLs and replace all the 26watters with a 2700k spectrum.

1&2 are plant A
3&4 are plant B (the spots are light burn whoops)

Those are nice and short and bushy. I guess a lot of people like to grow plants that do not have a lot of side branches so the plant puts all its energy in to one cola. You may want to prune some of those side branches eventually.

Are those under MH lamps?

How tall you gonna grow them?

Thats a good point and Im going to look into topics like LST, topping, and pruning next. If I dont get to doing it on this grow then surely the next.
I'm not going to stretch it even though they are only about 5" tall but Im going to flower on monday and I know itll atleast double in size.
As for the lamps, its all CFL... I dont have a big enough space to put a HPS in. Im an electrician by trade and I know 1st hand how hot those get and it just wouldnt fly in the space Im working in... damnit

Those look like some nice plants for 20 days and being under CFL's.

i would top them today if i were you. then flowwe like midweek next week. over the next 3 weeks prune out the smaller branches and leave about 6 of the best growing ones. it will shorter\n overall height and give you more colas.

That's such good ideas but i'm so concervative being my first grow... I'd need a lesson as lame as it sounds.. Any takers ha?

honestly mate yo need some serious help they should be 10 times the size depending if you started by seed or clone by now if you use the right gear.All depends how much yeald you want if i was you wack a 600 watt maetal hallide light above them and see some real results the light you have are no good at all like isaid depends what you want . goodluck

hey, they do look great! did you start from Seed? so if so, 20 days in soil after sprouting. ?
Neville83 is talking some bollocks! They are fine and healthy for 20 days...especiallly with a CFL!! Nice green, good leaves! Didn't stretch!
So no nutes yet? B-1 mild water solution would be great for the root system during Veg, some mild kelp/seaweed wouldn't hurt either...and when i Talk MILD..i mean..1/4 of the normal rating you would use later.

True though, you will need a different, more powerful light when it comes to Flowering. The best light, for the bang, is a 600Watt HPS. Get one of the correct spectrum light bulbs for it (mostly reds with a touch of blue) then they will growwwww and BLOOM !! CFL's look very nice for veggin' in your case...( i just use my HPS, but would try those CFL's if i was out of a HPS ballast) Neville 83 is off base too...trying to push a Metal Hallide lamp on you...they are good for Veg' phase, not Flowering!!! Yikes...

People just hating. You and me are in the same boat, trying, and learning. And having a riot while doing it. But I do agree a metal halide would be nice, feel free to send me one ohh wise and negative nevill. Good luck to you PT.

hah i hear ya guys, yea def. pretty lame to throw that comment out there but i dont see anything better from nedville.
thanks for the advice and yea i would def do a HPS or MH but i dont have the room. Both lights put off an imense amount of heat and use alot of power so it wouldnt be ideal in my lil closet... but that doesnt mean i wont go that direction cause some friends and I are planning to get a place a few towns over and it has an extra room... mwuahaha you can see where Im going with this.
As for the lights tho I went out and bout some 2700k CFLs to flower with. Ive seen some pretty successful buds from CFLs its just you have to do it right.
But yea things would be much nicer if I had to space to use a HPS... damn

They look very similar to my babies at that age. I have about the same lighting and growth room as u and will be switching to 2700 k soon as well with my cfl. I am anxious to watch ur growth. WTF?

he is not using a big light and hydro, the plants look good for what he has.

This dude is smart, he is starting simple and small, learn and grow. Not spend and kill the plants, like a lot of new growers do.

I say the next investment for him should be a 400w or 600w HPS and a cool tube. Then the plants will grow faster.

haha thank you, yea kids an idiot. Yea its my 1st grow and I had little knowledge of how to grow before i got into this. Id love a HPS... i dream about it haha.
Im keeping them small for size and manageability right now, I could stretch and make the taller easily but its not what I want to do

you given any thought to the topping idea? will help your height issue. also what size box are you growing in? you can do some really cool stuff in a small little cabinet that is about 1x1x3. my first box was that size, and to this day has been my best little veg room. It has had everything from 150 hps to cfls and has taken plants from start to finish. anyway, keep up the good work.

Yea Ive been thinking about it more now and Im going to do a little more reading on it before I do anything. The plants just went their first night in the 12/12 cycle and I noticed growth imediately so things are looking good. Thanks by the way, I didnt figure you could have a HPS in such a small area...

how big is your cabinet?

It's a closet about 3'x18"x7'

Mine are 19 days old and under 400w MH and are a bit bigger but not a whole lot. Yours are looking pretty good for MG & CFL's. It is about time for topping and I also trim up the bottom 3rd of each plant. It increases air flow underneath the canapy and also gives me some clones to work with. Get it done now along with topping and wait about a week to 10 days before flowering.

Thanks for the info... one minor problem is that i began 12/12 yesterday. Is it too late to top? I was going to look into it more I wasnt sure if i was ready to or not yet. The plants have grown sugnificantly over the past couple days. Ill post some more pics when the lights come on tomorrow morning. I added more light and put in the mylar and I got a great response. I also bought a water pH tester and some bloom nutrients that Ill work with in a bit. Do you have a journal Im interested to see what you have going.

Thanks clowdy, not much just staring at my plants watching them grow haha. Ive been by your journal a few times recently yours are coming along nicely.

Serious question here, whats wrong with MG? You both jumped on that and personally this is my 1st grow and I just used it cus it was the easiest. Why in the future should I not use it and can I have some reccomendations on something better?
