De bulb questions

I just got a de bulb I heard you can't have your fans blowing on the lights and mine came with a cool Tube so I was wondering how I set it up ? If the fan shouldn't be blowing on the bulb should I not set it up with the tube or what? Thanks for any help.

I suspect that a cool tube has an even enough flow that it would be fine, so I might do it myself, but i'm not going to recommend other people do it. It would safer at a very low flow rate, like under 10CFM (which will actuality take away way more heat than most people would expect).

But to the root of the questions, why are you covering your bulbs?

Look at a sun systems ac/de, they actually do a pretty nice job all around, for cooling and reflecting , they don't cool the lamp directly.

I didn't know about the fan issue before I bought it. The setup comes with the hood so I got it . Didn't really think about it not being nearly as hot has standard hid probably.

They are pretty hot, they need to be, that's how they work. Some of the problem is that with the smaller envelope around the arc tune, cooling it cools the arc tube.

But seriously, covering up any bulbs to cool them removes light and adds a lot of hassle. If you can make a setup work with a bare bulb you will see an improvement.
