If you couldn't tell that I've been fucking with you, I apologize on behalf of your ignorance. :D
yep, i believe i am the victim of the ultra-long-term troll. 5+ years in the making, in fact.

I am voting for Ron Paul because of my beliefs and my wants for this country...
all that stuff about shooting immigrants, moving to australia (where they have universal healthcare) because OBAMACARE IS SOCIALISM!, voting for the ultra-racist rawn pawl, and seething hatred of mcdonald's black365 program was all just a big gotcha!

damn i feel stupid now.

Asshole-extraordinaire! Aren't all pilots?
I'm not. I was always helpful to pilots who had maintenance issues. I have many stories because I did a fair amount of back-country flying and I always carried enough tools to do a lot of maintenance right there in the bush. Had a collection of AN bolts and locnuts, a couple spare plugs and when I flew extended missions, a friend had my spare cylinder and a collection of tools and parts necessary to do a complete top overhaul, in a box with a FEDEX label (pre-paid) addressed to the nearest FBO, right there in the bush.

I fixed an elevator attach point on a Super Cub that had allegedly just been restored. When the guy was pre-flighting I noticed there was rust forcing its way through the brand new fabric. Retracting the fabric revealed a shoddy weld (he was lucky he didn't lose the elevator in flight) at the outside, port, elevator attach point. I did a total shade-tree, Okie-rigged repair that, in fact, rendered the elevator unairworthy but it would hold shit together to get the guy home. It only restricted the travel of the elevator at the extreme points of its travel. As long as he flew conservatively, he'd be fine. He was.

I told him I wanted to have an email from him, when I got home, showing me his brand new Univair Super Cub elevator. He sent me a photo ESSAY showing the bare elevator, fabric installation and painting, and the old elevator (with the illegal repair) being removed and destroyed. It was a happy ending. The repair would have cost him a FORTUNE to get it done out in the Idaho wilderness. It was still spendy, but NOTHING like what it would have been. I made it possible to save money. I still get Xmas cards from the guy. I pay it forward. Not so much now that I'm grounded, but occasionally, I help a pal with engine work. Same engine as I owned so I'm pretty experienced.

I provide free (just pay cost of the rental) instruction to friends and less well-to-do kids under the age of 18... and it's in my plans to get my A&P after I get my own plane, and I'll probably do the same then.

I'm not really that much of an asshole.
