sorry man but watts is watts is watts.you want to cut your bill cut your watts.....thats it no other way...and no running .240v will only reduce your amp draw not your watt usage(in case that was the next question:bigjoint:)

Nicks right.

The best way to cut down on electricity bill is to cut down on the power you use in the rest of your home.

Replace all incandescents with cfls. Water heater modifications (propane powered). Clothes dryed mods (also propane) Cean your refridgerator exchange. Use less heating. Do not use any space heaters etc. The list goes on.

Turn you water heater down, low as you can stand it. Turn it off when your not home...timer? Water heater is the largest pig in the poke. Turn off that 600w-100w computer. On your exhaust in the room, how is it setup? Most common mistake is to exhaust all the time, there by sucking all the a/c out. Get some type of controller Fan/temp.

No watts are really ever lost when you're heating your home. All the excess heat is offset by your furnace hot having to be active as much. When you're running AC... it's the opposite.

Line conditioners are usually used for very high voltage, I sure hope no one around here is working with mega watts. The other conditioners you are talking about are like you said not for energy conservation but interference reduction. I have a hard time believing that this thing will cut power consumption in half.

i was kinda in the same boat as everyone else here as far as it actually working...but i had to see if anyone had success w/ it cause if it worked it would b worth it... how about this... http://www.ideamarketers.com/?Homemade_windmill_-_is_it_hard_to_build_one&articleid=492085
earth 4 energy kit looks promising, im ordering and building the windmill and ill let everyone know how it works.

Won't do anything.

Power factor is important when you have highly inductive or highly capacitive loads. These loads will time shift voltage and current. You'll still pull the same voltage and current, but they'll be out of phase, the net power over time will be lower.

The most important thing to remember is that home utilities meters don't change billing based on power factor. Thus, while this device could help with pf, it won't change anything on your power bill. Only bigger industrial or manufacturing plants are charged for pf !=1. Power companies also have to watch power factor on transmission lines.

So, the theory is correct, but it doesn't apply to residential homes.

Hope that helps. It's been about 15 years since I graduated from my EE program. And there's a bit of bong resin clogging up some of my neurons...
