Death Penalty for Homegrown Terrorist

I'm sure we have all heard of the tragedy that took place on Fort Hood. That man had planned an attack and followed through with it. He had radical islamic views and shot and killed 14 Americans, one of which was an unborn child. He shouted "allahu akbar", before the murders, and the FBI has been investigating him for several months. I am retired military, and it makes me sick to think that there are people like this in the military.
He will be tried in a military court and if convicted could face the death penalty. And I pray to god that he gets it. There are several witnesses who can identify him as the killer, so there should be no reason for this case not to be open and shut. I'm sure his lawers will claim insanity or some other ridiculous plea, and many have already started claiming that he was a victim for being a muslim, that he couldn't handle hearing all the horror stories from our returning soldiers, that somehow, he, not the one's who actually fought the war, are is too emotionally distressed.
Well, I'll stop babling because I'm sure we all know the story, but can anybody give me any reason why this man should not receive the death penalty? Any reason at all why this man doesn't deserve to be put to death.

some would think a life sentence with out possibility of parole would make him suffer more than just taking the easy way out and dying

The FBI has been investigating him for several months now, and they have found evidence that he was trying to communicate with terrorists, and he called out "allahu akbar", which is what the terrorists call out before they commit an act. And the 9/11 terrorists all visited strip clubs before they went on their death spree. Sounds like a terrorist act to me.
He hasn't gone out to the theatre, so what did he get so freaked out about? He was dismissed from his post at Walter Reed for trying to convert patients to islam. He attacked our soldiers on a military base. What more proof do you need that this man was a terrorist? They called Timothy Mcveigh a terrorist, but they won't call this man one.
I guess the problem is that we were not "compassionate" enough towards muslims. That we need to be more open minded towards individuals who are clearly anti american. We shouldn't jump to any conclusions. That's a bunch of bull. There are people who have actually gone out to the theatre that don't commit these crimes, yet an Army pshycologist loses his marbles because we are not tolerant? He joined the Army, went to school through the Army, and when it comes down to doing what the Army does, he wants out. He's special, if he doesn't want to go he shouldn't have to right? It's not like he made an oath to protect and defend the U.S and it's constitution.

The problem with that is that we the taxpayers would have to pay for him being in prison, and it is already overcrowded as it is. Make the real criminals face justice. And if he doesn't receive the death penalty, that is only going to send a message to our enemies that America can't protect itself. wether you call him a terrorist or not, doesn't a man who killed 14 Americans deserve to die. Think about the family of all those who perished. If it was your mother, father, uncle, brother, sister that was shot down in cold blood, you would want justice.

I agree, he was a muslim terrorists motherfucker, off with his fucking head. They should have left him to bleed out on the ground. Would have saved a boatload of time and money. When someone on the inside attacks, they used to call them fraggers, but this insidious Motherfucker waited untill there was a large number of troops gathered to get their shots and went in there to slaughter as many as he could. In the indian culture, we would have sliced him with a thousand little cuts, poured salt, then honey on him and staked his ass to an ant hill. That's what that MoFo deserves, screw a trial.

Damn, that's pretty brutal Medman. While I do agree with you that it would have been better if he was killed on the spot, I believe a trial is in order. It's in the constitution that every man deserves a fair trial, so he should get one. I just don't think that there is going to be much he can do considering he is the known suspect and he did kill americans. Nice post though, made me laugh a little bit.

ok... this guy should be put to death, cuz he killed 13 americans, and an unborn fetus...

and allah ackbar is a form of praise for all muslims, not just something that radical islamic terrorists shout out before carrying out an attack..... do not generalize "terrorist".

terrorists are not just islamic or arab. don't generalize like that because soon enough you won't know the difference between a devout muslim, who does not care for christianity or catholics, but is as peaceful as can be, and a battle hardened terrorist, carrying 5 lbs of C4 inside his shirt............. most muslims are not extremists. i was raised in a very christian environment, mind you, and currently do not preach or practice any religion. but i can see a seething hatred for muslims is brewing from this, and it kind of makes sense but remember, islam is not the enemy, it's radicalism that's the enemy, no matter if it's a muslim, catholic, hindu, scientologist, etc. etc....

he'll die in prison, if he's not killed thru lethal injection... either way he deserves the worst that military prison has to offer.... if you have a problem with how the army is conducting itself abroad, there are legal procedures to follow...... but if you decide to join the army, because yes it is a CHOICE, you better be willing to follow orders, and support you're fellow soldiers..... if you don't have the jewels for that, don't join...

you have no proof, as far as the 9/11 "terrorists" 9 of them are still alive, care to explain how 9 suicide bombers lived?

So Keenly, are you a muslim, or just a muslim sympathizer. I have no animosity towards muslims, but hell man, got to call a spade a spade. The guy was a muslim, and he did slaughter 13 people and wound a bunch more. Mass murderer, yeah, did it terrorize the survivors, yeah. Pretty much sums it up: He was/is a muslim terrorist. Black and white, no grey here.

it's not about foreign policy dipshit... you can opt out of fighting in the war... you might loose some benefits, but you aren't forced into fighting if you don't want to....

i know kids in the military, my family has served, my dad has purple hearts, i'm the only one that didn't join because i have better things to do than shoot at other people, like enjoy my life.....

I've been doing research on this subject, so I think I know what I'm talking about. The men and women on the scene have said that he called it out. The FBI has reported they were watching him. Just because you choose to believe he was not a terrorist doesn't mean he wasn't. He killed Americans, an act of terror. You don't have to be muslim to be a terrorist, but the majority of terrorists are muslim, that's a fact. The reason the 9/11 terrorists are still alive is because the FBI and CIA did their jobs, and stopped them before they could do damage.

I respect normal muslims, jews, christians, etc., I am not making a generalization, I'm stating facts. He was an islamic extremist, he had been marked for being a sympethizer of the terrorists, and didn't want to fight his "brother's", that's why he went on a rampage.
And the most likely situation will be that he will be put in a holding cell by himself, on constant watch, so how is he gonna die in there, other than old age? I was in the Marine's and did my time in theatre, and I know the difference between muslims that appreciate what we are doing, and muslims that want us dead. This man was a terrorist.

Hey thanks for your service Medman, my grandfather has told me some horror stories of the war over there. I don't think I can compare it to what I went through, because back then we were actually fighting our wars.

That is not true. You can not just say you do not want to go. When you join the military, you sign your life over. You have no control of where you will be stationed, and really not much say in the MOS you get. If you feel ok with yourself doing something stupid to get kicked out then that is on you. But I don't understand anyone who joins the military, knowing we are in a war, and expecting that they will not get called into action. What did those people join for then?
