i just flipped my ladies yesterday, and DE-leafed them on Wednesday , and they have already pretty much grew new fan leaves to provide more than enough shaed... now i wasnt going to pluck them again untill after stretch, but it seams like they needed a plucking now.... what do you think??

honestly i think i twas a bad idea to de -leaf in the first place, doing it a 2nd time will ALMOST DEFINITLEY affect your yield. but they are your plants, do what you want with them...this is just my two cents.

it depends how dense your plant growth is. if you're using HPS, of a high enough wattage and properly reflected your grow room, it think there's no need to defoliate, I would defoliate under LED's or maybe CFLS only the lower branches, because the light doesnt penetrate. hope ur stuffs ok man but its better to defoliate only under certain circumstances

[h=1](Experienced Growers Only) Controversial Defoliation Increases Marijuana Yields[/h]
by Keef Treez "The Defoliator"
Defoliation is an extreme marijuana growth technique. It's not to be done lightly.
In fact, the topic of defoliation is one of the most controversial subjects in the marijuana growing field. People on both sides defend their position vehemently.
I'm on the side that believe there is absolutely nothing stressful about defoliation or bending branches. Honestly, there is no way to achieve nearly a pound of buds from a 2-3 foot tall plant indoors, except using defoliation.
Opponents often have arguments like, "PLANTS NEED THOSE LEAVES! If they didn't, they wouldn't be there."
Or my all-time favorite, "I have a friend who used to grow, and he insists that will hurt the plant."
Yet the saddest part of all is how so few people are willing to look at the evidence.
In some ways, I almost would prefer the rest of the growing world keep up their ill-advised lollipopping, removing growing tips, and other low-yield techniques. The defoliation technique has been loudly condemned by "experienced" growers for decades. Nevertheless, I am determined to educate other growers about defoliating and let them see the results for themselves.
So let me start by giving you some picture proof that defoliation works (make sure you scroll down to see all of them!).
You see, I've been defoliating intensively for 30 years. I am now training plants to be 32" tall and 32" round and yielding 250-400 grams under 400 watt lamp.

save the leaves if you can since they're your power houses, train them if you want to further expose the nodes.

like i said, just trying something out, if you will read the link i gave and look at pics, it gave me reason to at least inquire, and because this lil thing of ours is really based on experience, And i DO planning on one day running from the bulls in spain, might as well give this defoliation thing a try, it's only two months out of my life, and i smoke ALL of my grow by myself( the precious) why not.

well dont defoliate too much, you have to remember what the purpose of those leaves are for and saving as many as possible is essential for the best yield. no point in complaining now though it looks like you stripped em of every last fan leaf. the reason people defoliate is to expose lower growth such as new branches which are going to eventually be bud sites, or sometimes its just to prevent mold from lack of air flow in the bush. at least your training them though.

I'm totally for Decoliation to, however looking at your last pic I think that stripping all fan leaves off not nessasary. I've never actually read up on it but whilst vegging I noticed some fan leaves, Wether at top or bottom of the plant get so big, they definitely block direct light. I noticed that upon removing theses fan leaves growth of the part that was being blocked accelerates. I do a lot of topping and super cropping and my plants becoming very bushy so its a must for me

I believe you are only supposed to defoliate twice during flower to achieve the desired result. Once after the initial stretch (14 to 18 days after the 12/12 flip) and again two weeks before harvest (typically 42 to 49 days after 12/12).

I decided to read your link and found this in it.

And it's true that some types of defoliation are brutal to the plants (such as when misguided growers removing all the leaves off extremely young marijuana plants),

Don't know if you missed this bit

I am trying defoliation for the first time and in 4 weeks I will see if my yield was increased from the previous one. Last week I defoliated 4 plants and I saw vigorous bud growth!!!

topping causes them to put out even more leaves and the stress caused by removing the top stunts them for about 3-5 days depending on the vigor of your plant, best thing id say you can do is tie em down and let the nodes get exposed, this way you can get some new branches going and not have only one cola(cause if it gets damaged then you wont have any other bud sites to fall back on) or a bunch of small colas that dont mature due to their distance from the light. if you want them to finish evenly all bud spots must be about the same distance from the light. i didnt get to finish training the first one completely but the plan was to go all the way around the pot, either way all the bud sites matured evenly.

Good for you OP. The defoliation topic can start some nasty discussions. My hats off to you for just doing it, to find out for yourself. Peace!!
