Dehumidifier Crystals

So I've been looking into various dehumidifying options to lower my humidity from ~65% to something closer to 40% (or even a little less). I found a $25 dollar one on craigslist yesterday, but it gets WAY too hot. I've been looking into new mini-dehumidifiers that don't use condensers and therefore use WAY less energy (this $25 one was 120v and 8.8 amps...that's over 1000watts just for a dehumidifier. No thanks.

So I've been considering getting some of the dehumidifying crystals (dri-z-air is one brand in particular that makes them) that just sit there and suck water out of the air. My question is how effective are these crystals at lowering humidity? I run a portable a/c when the lights come on, and that keeps the humidity around 50%, but it uses so much energy I don't want it running 24/7. My grow space is small, 17"w X 30"d X 60"h, so I just want something to sit in there during the night and keep the bud mold away!

Thanks for your help RIU community:leaf:

Awesome, thanks man! 20% less would put me around 40%, which is really all I'm looking for.

What is the RH outside the grow room? Cause if it's a good bit lower, then more airflow is all you need.
