National Geographic has prided themselves on accuracy for over a century. This is something that's been bothering me lately. If you don't trust the media, yet the media reports all news, how do you get your news?
How do you know what's going on in the rest of the world? Some people don't care, and that's fine. Everyone has the right to give a shit about whatever they choose.
But I trust some news programs. If I read an article in national geographic, no part of me is questioning the validity of the writer. Maybe that's my bad? I don't know where all this mistrust came from.
That being said I think Fox News is some bullshit and breitbart should be illegal. But I'm just a silly crybaby libtard .
They should be required to report the amount of bs/opinion/untruths as they are broadcasting with a banner indicating the damage done by false reporting. That being said I think Fox News is some bullshit and breitbart should be illegal. But I'm just a silly crybaby libtard
My newspapers (yes I still sometimes read p-a-p-e-r) have to print retractions for factually incorrect things. I know that news programs are fed stories by large media conglomerates. But some things are national news.National Geographic has prided themselves on accuracy for over a century.
Other information outlets have rather lower standards. Fix News, for instance, has fought and won a lawsuit against them alleging false news; they successfully claimed they were an entertainment outlet and therefore retains the right to lie whenever they want. So much for credibility.
Therefore, it's incumbent upon the reader to read and think critically, consider the sources of the information and look for independent verification when in doubt.
And doubt a lot, lol
They lie. They trust SOMETHING, and the less news they consume and/or the fewer sources they consult, the likelier it is they have a distorted view of events. My newspapers (yes I still sometimes read p-a-p-e-r) have to print retractions for factually incorrect things. Like the election in France. If I didn't read the paper, or watch news programs I wouldn't have any idea that was even taking place.
So someone that doesn't trust the media, do they just not know what's going on in the world? Do they not care?
This has already been done with the repeal of the FCC's Fairness Doctrine. Reputable sources still abide by them, many more in the spin and wind machines- both right and left- do not. They should be required to report the amount of bs/opinion/untruths as they are broadcasting with a banner indicating the damage done by false reporting.
There's a reason they are trying to take content labeling off of consumables. The dumber the people....
This is like the people that get their news from voiced over YouTube channels. But then say in the same breath that their single-party opinion no consequence "news" is factual and that all main stream media is false. They lie. They trust SOMETHING, and the less news they consume and/or the fewer sources they consult, the likelier it is they have a distorted view of events.
The answer is no. Dont know dont care. If 9 out of 10 its bs then why bother. Are we just trying to find whats believable in our own minds for satisfacfion idk.My newspapers (yes I still sometimes read p-a-p-e-r) have to print retractions for factually incorrect things. Inform yourself. Take in news from many sources. Talk to people who were there and did that. Don't give in to those who want you to take sides. This is like the people that get their news from voiced over YouTube channels. But then say in the same breath that their single-party opinion no consequence "news" is factual and that all main stream media is false.
Trump and the fringe getting people to distrust the mainstream media is probably their greatest accomplishment to date. How can people discuss when one side is brainwashed to mistrust the other side?
I don't see how this issue can ever find a conclusion. I distrust the right wing media. I feel it's brainwashing. The right wing media says I'm brainwashed, and that my sources can't be trusted.
How does this ever get solved?
