why a 6 amp..the fan is usualy only using 1 amp or 2. and a dimmer isnt the right equipment either. fan will die sooner than is suposed to that way. man 6 amp is more than my 600 watt ballast suks.
Always leave room for play when messing with electricity. Cutting it to close causes shorts and burnt plants.:blsmoke:

ya i agree go bigger than needed...but thats a whole world bigger and isnt needed. so now the wire can melt before the switch goes. same as to big of a breaker to what we are loading with...wire melts before breaker goes....bad.
my 8 inch fan only suks less than 2 amp...it is energy star though so is less thyan others. think my 6 inch votex is still under 2 amp....wasnt tghis for a small pc type fan...using milli amps...;.not even 1 amp./

I hope I didn't come across as the "I'm better" type. I have a light background in electricity and his question had nothing to do with growing.

He stated what he needed and I helped, I'm sure there are areas of growing you are more knowledgeable than I.:leaf::bigjoint:

Simple,
You need
1. 1 attic thermostat, they keep it near the attic vents and roofing supplies.
2. 1 5 Amp or better rated fan speed controller. In the ceiling fan section
3. 1 2 recepticle gang box
4. 1 Male plug
5. 1 switch/outlet cover combo
6. 1 duplex outlet rated at least 15 amps
7. A few feet of minimum 14g wire. I just had some 14/2 w/ ground laying around and i used the male end of an old extension cord for the male plug. You could probably get a cheap 6' or so extension cord and use it for your wire and plug. Just make sure it is rated at least 15A.
