Disaster! Condensation in ducting

When I checked the room tonight there was a good amount of water in the ducting which is used to bring air from the attic through the light and back out into the attic. Enough that when I moved the insulation a stream poured on my head. It seems that the metal collars which connect the duct to the ceiling are getting cold enough to condense the moisture in the room. At least that's what I think. Humidity is not high in the room. Only around 60%. But it's getting cold in the attic now.

I'm at a complete loss. Needless to say the lights are off and will probably stay that way. I don't think I could sleep thinking that water could hit the bulb and cause it to burst.

Try insulating the ducts completely. What is the temp outside? Are you running A/C or heat?
The ducts are completely insulated. There's even a layer of insulation on the attic side of the drywall. There's no moisture in the attic.

The CH/AC was not on yesterday which was the first real frosty weather.

I'm so stumped it's killing me.

It's definitely the metal starter collars. They are the source of the condensation. I'm thinking maybe just running the insulated ducting straight through the ceiling might stop this.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or, doing what I mentioned above and not having water problems.

I'm dying over here.
