Distance from canopy with 600w open reflectors where’s your sweet spot?

Re-read leaves like to be at 21`c the world over, they use transpiration to get to this temp, where was i saying the air needs to be that temp, its about their internal cooling and thats why if they dont feel cool to the touch they are struggling.

Fyi your leaves look thin and droopy, called heat stress.

I also present the acclimitization problem that is well known when transfering from lower lumens to higher lumens, you make it midday equator sun level for 12 hours a day, nature and dli intergral says your wrong to do this, calculate your umols and youll grow better...
No they are thin because its a skunk x shit.
They are droopy because I was about to water them, or just did..dont remember. Notice the gap between pot and soil.
They are a little heat stressed, and that was the point of my post. Very slight blistering of the top leaves.

And that's why I mentioned the transpiration tables.

Anyway. Just saying what I do and works for me.

Another titbit, fuck the hand test off, skin is a shit absorber of light, use the top of your haead (unless your bald) hair is much closer to the light absorbance properties of light and a much bettet guide to the heat from light radiation :-)

Still thin and droopy, should be wider and a much lusher shade of green :-)

....Ok....

http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Shit/Mr_Nice_Seedbank/gallery/02041231690600570/

and Skunk is of cause generally a narrow leaf and not overly dark green as we all know..

But that's Ok, I post a pic to show early heat stress (slight blistering and some very slight cupping that's mainly from the fan) and lets pick apart his plant...And lets tell him its suffering from heat stress- Just like he said it was....... and try to turn it into a more Indica type leaf (Fat).
Notice no bleaching? So far ive never experienced that.

Taking the inverse square law and the initial lumun out put then dividing by square foot you want your light meter set at a distance of say average sunlight or 10,000 lumens per square foot and that is a lot futher away than what your maths add up to.

Bro we can debate or i can merely state how to achieve the right distance from a light source so that the heat produced from the radiated light as it hits the leaf surface dosent cook your leaves.

Like go ahead and place your plants 18" from a 1000watt hos, weed is remarkably resiliant to stress, but you are over doing it and creating a much smaller surface area to grow in.

Already stated in the op's original post was the fact that the futher away from the light the healthier the plants grew but bro science you jumps in saying to place them closer. If you feel the need to debate futher i think you need to validate your distances with the science that i just presented, google sunlight and select wiki.

Now once again you are too close to that 1000watt and probably why them buds arent so big. It fucked me up when i first read them charts but didnt take long to realise the distance and grow area for optimun growth. Mainly my tents are set to this but i feel my plants are stilk a little short and compact as well as the zillion threads where the lants burn by being too close.

What skunks are you growing? Mine xome from afghan and a mix of others and resemble wide lush green leaves, mainly youve jumped the gun with your assumotion that thin long droopy leaves represent this genus, maybe google sativa and learn the difference vecause that aint what i grow wwhen i order up any of the sensi skunks ive always grown.

No seriously google the maths before im left with another ill thought out redundant comnent on placing this guys plants closer to the lights when he has already pointed out this didnt work out to well for him.

Sheesh just helping a fellow uk grower out but yankeedoodledandy has other ideas ;-)

A picture from a big bust in a disused nuclear underground uk bunker from last year here in the Uk. Notice a few foot from the lights is the canopy, these were placed in the room and allowed to grow up into the light so probably five maybe six foot away when first started flowering. Damn sure no one went and adjusted over a hundred lights by a few inches every week. Now a bigger plant could exceed that 10,000 lunen per square foot by a bit but somewhere in this grow they applied the simple maths and distances i have talked about in this thread. Similar to your grow in every way except for the scale of the operation and that they yeield per light a shit load more that that thin droopy not so healthy plant you put up before.

Ever wondered how in some grows those 1000/600 watters are quite some distance from the tops of the plant canopy? Hmmmmm

Dont make me put up pictures of Skunk#1, fucking growing a pheno of it now, it would just be childish to prove you wrong with pictures once again, fuckit sensi skunk couple weeks old, aint seeing no thin leafed droop on mine...

So I post a video of Kevin Jordrey's (the fkn legend!!) Skunk and your argument is that his plant from 1981 is not a Skunk and you know more than he does.... I post a review of a Picture of Shit from seed finder but yet you know more than them as well.

I post a pic of my plant that is suffering from mild heat stress to show the OP what the first sign of heat stress is and you tell me its suffering from heat stress....Blindingly intelligent of you.
My plant is a skunk x Shit and you say its leaves arnt broad enough. I post a Pic of a Shit plant that's thin leaves....O..and here is a pick of the Skunk that your growing (obviously not the lovely specimen that kevin has got) and look its leaves are not that fat ..http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Skunk_Nr1/Sensi_Seeds/gallery/09101646316304352/

You then call me a Yank to try to get an argument out of me. Even though I stated I'm in Summer..like duh..
You sound like the whinging poms I had to put up with when I was in England in the early 90's. Like seriously if lifes so bad there move, it may improve your attitude.

Sorry OP Ive tried sharing what I'm doing/do and the relevant charts and my temperatures and what to look for heat stress wise but I'm out of your thread. Good luck with your grow.

Multiple (3 or 4 or more) fixtures of whatever (hid..led..etc) you can have them alot farther away from canopy than one or 2 lights in a small area. At least in my experience. Ive always mounted up to the top and let the plants grow into the sweet spot. My flowering lights anywAys.

I’m trying to learn how far away I can position them to cover more area and still get performance. I have learnt how close I can get away with but like kinggrow said it’s a resilient plant, wasn’t showing stress but was it happy or just about taking it? Thanks again everyone for your opinions
