DIY Automatic irrigation system for soil growers

Hi Everyone,

i keep my plants short and bushy by training them and giving them a 24/7 light cycle during veg. which makes feeding very messy, and almost impossible to do without getting water and nutes all over the leaves.
i put together a simple DIY irrigation system which can also be completely automated. i couldnt find any related articles here so i thought i'd share :)

i used:

a hose and some plastic connectors and fittings. available in any grow shop.
1 x 30L water container (blue plastic barrel) (http://www.harmonygear.com/products/441974/Waterproof_Barrel._30_Liter,_Blue)
1 x simple "Jebo AP2000" water pump (http://www.jebostore.com/LifeTech_JEBO_Aquarium_Pump_264_GPH_AP2000_p/ap2000.htm)
2 x "Octopus" drippers (http://www.g-tools.nl/eng/webshop.php?product_id=130&PHPSESSID=2885463571a4ca7499d2b885f7f06a82)

i put the water pump in the barrel and cut a hole in the cover for the hose and the pump's power cable.

the other side of the hose was sealed, i cut 2 small holes close to the end of the hose for the octopus drippers, and slid the hose into the tent through the 2nd ventilation hole.

the octopus drippers are then fitted to the hose (like in the pic above), and the arms are suppose to go in the soil. but since i use AirPots, and this is the coolest part, the octopus plastic arms fit perfectly into the holes of the AirPots. so i put 2 arm in each plant, one through one of the top holes, and 1 through on of the bottom holes, to get full coverage.

this is pretty much it, just add water and nutrients to the container and plug in the pump. :) works perfectly, no mess whatsoever, tent is clean, and most important, no nutes on the plants.

you can put it on a timer and automate feeding completely. i still like to be in control of when to feed, but could be useful when i leave home for a few days for work.

hope someone will find this useful :)

Pretty cool. I was looking to build a system similar to this but drip style. Would this be OK for 100% soil. I don't have any hydroyton in my buckets.
