DIY cfl rig question

so im in the final stretch of my first grow, things went way better than I expected, so naturally im adjusting and making preparations for the next grow. one adjustment im looking to make is to only roll with 3 plants in my 4x4 tent instead of 4 for more breathing room. then I found this cabinet at a thrift store that I believe would be awesome to convert into a little cab for a scrog setup which is awesome cause I really want to give that a try as well. but my setup is in my room so im going to be running cfls in there so I can save on fan noise (its already hard enough to sleep in veg with the fan noise even with the duct mufflers).. anyway I had a question about this video that I know a lot of you have probably seen..

now I want to do something similar to that with 2 105w bulbs instead but ive searched every local hardware store and for some reason cannot find that double sided light fixture.. everything else I can find easily. can anyone point me somewhere I might be able to order one online? or if you have any other suggestions to make something else work im all ears as I haven't started construction yet
thanks for your help!

I bought a single fixture and then screwed in a "Y" type fixture (holds 2 bulbs). expanded my hood so I installed 3 set. seems to do the job.

Lowes has it all

Small aquarium hoods for ten gallon tanks sometimes use the dual lamp sockets. Another great place to shop for guerrilla supplies is the thrift store or a Habitat for humanity re-store. They take demo donations from houses. This means ceiling light fixtures. They're the ones you're looking for. Two, three, and four bulb socket fixtures. The filter or light diffuser hangs from the bottom and is held in place with a threaded nut. Inverting this fixture is how you would build this light. The picture is of one from a hall ceiling light I replaced.

thanks for the replies, im going to look around through these thrift stores I never thought of finding some other fixture to take apart. @ clayman I thought of using the y fixtures because those were easy to find and using multiple sets of smaller wattage bulbs but wanted to save the hassle of 3 separate lamp cords and all that but if all else fails I think that I will go that route. lol it seems like these dual lamp sockets are a rare commodity

I had the same issue trying to find the dual lamp socket so I stood in lowes and had to redesign my design thats how I ended up making what I did.
Hell trying to find a 6 ft lamp cord was a bitch too..I ended up buying cheap ext. cords and chopping off the ends lol

I was under the idea that the output of the bulbs is what you added, but soon learned that its the actual watts..so i had to revamp my lights now the set up I have 403 actual watts of cfl's.

IMG_00000183.jpgIMG_00000178.jpgOld school aquarium fixtures have that double socket and I picked up a cheap bathroom vanity light at Home Depot that has the same fixture in it. Was under $10.

i used to have one of those 4 bulb split to 8 bulb designs, but my friend got a book by seemorebud's called 8 oz for 100$ or less. The fixture he makes is 3 pieces of plywood with a socket on each, with each piece of ply held to the next with a piece of sheet metal. one of the pieces has hooks on the back and u hang it up there, and put splitters on the the sockets. since there is sheet metal inbetween it allows you to literally surround the plant with bulbs, my buddy got 5 oz approx on his first grow

Bare sockets are only a few bucks and like clayman said, can be wired with a $2 extension cord. It's ridiculously cheap to build a cfl rig, fraction of the cost of bulbs.

I just made one of these with a slight change, it's plug n play. Instead of the light socket I used heavy duty zip ties and mounted two good quality power strips to the reflector.

Add these http://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-White-Outlet-to-Socket-Light-Plug-R52-00061-00W/100170446#.UhGOP5LrzbA to open slots then add Y connectors

You can run 16-20 small cfl lights or 6 or so large ones without any wiring, all just plugging things in.

Talk about an epifiny for a dumbass. I've done tons of ductwork and this never crossed my mind. Kind of cool. Peace & be kind

How's about posting a picture of the finished fixture or a tutorial!?
