DIY led grow

Agree, they popped in rapid rooters under cfl.5500k. They are on a 16/8 schedule. Ive been moving them back and forth so they get some part of the day in flower room under cxb's and uv.

We'll see just how precocious they are ...ill post a 2week old pic later this week.

Today is 14 days. They are growing well but nothing super robust. I am holding very high hopes though.

1 INTERESTING fact is that I rarely use rapid rooters to germ. Here i did use rapid rooters and the growth is healthy but I do not see any roots growing through the drainage holes. When I germ in my regular mix those roots are always visible before 14 days of above ground growth. I'm very curious to see what the root development looks like when it's time to repot.

@Positivity or anyone willing to help. I have tried my own research and cant seem to find anything on a dang ON/OFF switch. I saw a guy say he preferred the toggle over the rocker style that you use on your DIYs somewhere in this thread... that is why I'm asking here. I have been searching Amazon and found these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057M4J4E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A3HMB6GLG0WJ17

I want to put an on/off switch, my pot and one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008J80J1A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_5&smid=A32LHIWFXYFBJ0 on a project box of some sort.

What voltage/current/A size should I be looking for? Where do I look on a Meanwell datasheet for that answer? I will be putting the switch on the AC side of a Meanwell HLG185H-C1400 or HLG-120H-C700....haven't decided yet. Thanks

Instead of putting such a large switch in line on the driver, I used a power supply with rocker switch's on the face, it was designed for a computer system.

All driver's plug into the back side in the provided out lets, on the face it the rocker arm switch's for each outlet and a main power switch that provides power to rocker switch's. I had it on hand and has worked great.

Another thought is just make a box with outlets and wire a rocker or toggle switch to each outlet so you have control (on/off) of them.

Thanks for replying... I have seen those in local dept. stores. That is a really good idea. I want to have just one power cord from my light and then plug it into a multi slot extension cord if need be though. Thanks

Or, like the tower has, there is the power supply control panel that has it's on/off switch's, all have built in circuit breakers. I have more driver's than outlets, so I just grouped some of the like drives power cords on a terminal block that has one cord to the power supply. It was all done so that I could turn on/off what I wanted, and some individual toggle switch's where used on some drivers do that I could turn them of while still having power for the other ones I want on. I got my toggle switch's off Digi Key.

Positively, I have looked and am not sure, but I know you have looked a lot more than I, so maybe you can help me figure this out.

Okay, the tower is not perfect, not to bad for being built by a newbie who did not know what they truly where doing, LOL

LED layout pattern is not the best for the optimum light spectrum distribution, and I possible could use more 660nm range, but not 100% sure as the CW,WW,NW do over lap in spectrum and they wind up adding something to each wavelength. I tried my best at guestimation and some math to figure it out.

Okay my issue is this, I just have these LED's fastened to the heat sink, this tower stands center of the plants about 8.5" away from them. The test plant grew and looked very healthy before I pulled it, male.

Okay am I out of luck, do or should I use a light diffusion type panel. I guess think like what is used on the flo's. My mind says cut and make a larger octagon shape to slide over the tower.

Or do I go one by one and attach a secondary lens for the LEDS, but they are to close together actually for some reflectors to be used and they are close to the plant already.

Would this diffusion panel be worth it, could I get a better mix of light to the plants with it ?

howdy realhigh...hope alls going well.

wouldn't mess with reflectors, you'd want the opposite effect. A diffusion panel slipped over would be pretty cool but I'm not sure the cost and amount of work would be worth it. Not too mention a probably steep efficiency penalty. But if you can source a material and get it done...give it a go..

I'd just run the light a few times before you change anything up. You said it grew the male healthy, I'd bet it flowers well too..

send ya a pm...gotta get the driver specifics and layout and such. I know you sent it once before, maybe I can look back and find the info. see if theres any way to get the lumens up into the 200 lumens a watt range with the newer options. I'd save your bills for that..

Wow Rasser wasn't it Rasir? Anyway the og led diy -er on here. Him and gastanker I forgot about that guy. and tags 420 is greengenes. Natro is still on here all the time. Mostly in the seed section. Beef was in here a few months ago. So was flyhi. Not since.

Nope...was Rasser....i dont forget genius.. :)

Gastanker and Majorcoco were my heros...pioneerz of the multichip... perhapz paving the way for the COB.

Hmmmm...i cant remember the dude who actually bought the cree cxa 3050 to light here...shit was game changing.and he should get major credit..!

Bam..! Found him...
