My landrace Rif Mountain hashplants are doing well. Got the Mod420 turned down to 110 watts. The QB304 is running however, at about 100 also. These plants are tempoararily sharing the tent with 4 autoflowers, Mephisto's alien vs Triangle, for anothewr week or two.

Move that light 1 inch further and the losses will be tremendous, 12 inches is max range for that thing for sure. PCB boards are junk, small diodes are junk, main issue with running multiple small diodes is they lack any penetration, basic laws of physics prevent it, mainly the law of the inverse square. Small initial value = low intensity. And you don't add all the diodes together to get those numbers they are based on each individual point of light. That's the main reason every single LED maker stopped doing 1 watt diode and all moved to either 3w or 5w even though they are less efficient.
So, where is all the light going if it lacks penetration? Does it disappear in the air?

No , it just doesn't have the intensity a higher par light would , when you spread the light out it has less intensity.Read the law of the inverse square, you will find the two most important things are initial value and distance.

It's the reason it's advised to hang 1kw DE 3 foot from canopy, too close and they will fry from intensity. These LEDs are meant to be hung VERY close to canopy, anything under that canopy isn't gonna get much light, so proper training is going to be needed to maximize this footprint.

Remember we don't live in a 2D word, height and distance from light are VERY important measurements.

Any light's illuminated area would receive less intensity as the light is moved away. But why does it matter whether you have a single chip or 500 chips, when in the end they will both produce 1000 lumens?

Place them both 24" above and explain what happens to the 1000 lumens given off by A) a single LED chip, and B) 500 LED chips.

What's the physics behind that? What is the endpoint of the 1000 lumens from B) ? Where does A) go that B) cannot, and why?

I've had a QB288 sitting unused for a couple months. I decided today to replace the DIY light in a cab I use for breeding and small plant. I mounted it on a Slate 1 and is running on an HLG80H54A driver. I have the QB running at 28 watts from the wall.

The cab is 34.5" wide, 24" tall and 20" deep. I lined it with some scrap panda poly I had for reflectivity. I'm going to make fem seeds of my personal strains soon now that the cab is prepped.

Hi,
I ordered a HLG-600H Kit with Slate 5 3500k and pretty excited to get it in my hands.
Looks like I should be parallel wiring the 4 boards, correct me if I'm wrong on that.

They only had one kit left when I ordered, but I'm going to need two of these for my 4x8 tent.
Anyone from HLG know when more kits will be available?

My girls won't be going into 7 gallon pots for 5 weeks but It would be nice to have both lights in good working order by then...

The more you spread your light out the less intensity will be under the light but more even the spread of the light will be, 1000 diodes pushing 1 watt each won't have the same hot spot a 1000w light would directly under it even if lumen output is the same , the point of light is more spread with 1000 different sources.

These LEDs make a great even spread of light, but they don't make a great intensity, distance to canopy is extremely important with LED's (at least in my experience.)

Where would it spread in a closed-system (i.e. a grow box covered with reflective film all around)?

I think the problem you are presenting can be mitigated by optic lenses and isn't an inherent limitation of the wattage of the lamp.

It's gonna still be there but at a less density than a different source, I.E. more spread photons which means lower light levels. The more intensity the initial value, the further you can go from the light and still receive decent levels, that's why QB's are best for micro grows, they wouldn't be very good for warehouse grows where you want your lights over 12 foot in the air with overlap.

I don't think spreading is an issue in a closed-system. If you want each and every corner of your grow area to receive light, then I can't really make out the difference between using a single source or a thousand sources. The reflective film, I had imagined, was to prevent spreading and contain the light.

90W available.
135W, and 260W kits waiting on drivers/ heatsinks. will have a better idea next week.
600W kit. 1-2 may be added. more will take 6-8 weeks. We may have a kit based on slate 4 soon.
I recently bought 2 of the 250 kits and Stephen kindly let me know that the difference between the 260 and the 250 is the driver.

Could you tell me specifically what was meant by different driver? I have tried to compare but I can't figure it out. I am a n00b with led still.
I saw that you are hoping to get the 2700k boards back in stock roughly in September and I was hoping to pick up 2 of them and placing them in the middle open space on the sink. Do you know if the existing driver support the added board?
