DIY with Quantum Boards

I appreciate that and you clearly get it! I was only able to grow one plant and I've never grown a large plant before. I set out to grow the most ridiculous plant I could...my only regret is that she isn't larger. I won't be winning any grams per watt awards but that's OK. That was not my focus for this.
Do you think it was worth making a setup like that? Your plant looks great but it looks like that was quite a costly setup to grow 1 plant. Are you planning to make a setup to yield more than 1 plant or are you good with that?

I give you credit, that's the largest plant grown under these boards i have seen, but it looks like that's about a 1kw setup if im not mistaken, and under a 1kw DE hps you can yield about 2-3 pounds per run. How many pounds you think that will get you? It looks like it might be max about a 1 pound plant to me .

I'd imagine that will yeild more than a pound. I pulled a bit over 1/3 of a pound off of 1 plant under one of those HLG QB 288 @ 135 watts. So even with him only driving them at 60 watts each i would be very surprised if it only yields a pound.

You're right. I'll likely revisit my work with 12/12 from seed, SOG style. I probably won't actually do 12/12 from seed but will do a very brief veg. That would be a proper test, I think.

checking in since it's been a while.
added a few new light rigs to the flowering tent, so we figured to use 2 of the QB120 boards as a little bottom light experiment.
total of 8 plants here's the breakdown
right tray, top right: liberty haze
right tray, top left: ayahuasca purple
right tray, bottom right: dinachem
right tray, bottom left: lavender
left tray, top right: ghost train haze
left tray, top left: sweet cheese
left tray, bottom right: LSD
left tray, bottom left: blue widow

pics bellow from last week, switched to 12/12 on Nov 8th

Just wanted to touch base and give you all an update and my opinion of QB's thus far.
I now have all 16 QB 288 V2's running and it's pretty amazing. They are dimmed down to 60 watts per board.
The biggest take away from me is that the 4000K's are just killing the 3000K's. I'm so glad I went heavy on those.

How are you coming to the conclusion that the 4k are "killing" the 3k?

What I should have said was that the 4000K's seem to be performing a little better than the 3000K's are. In my 4 towers, the bottom row is using (4) 4000K's and (4) 3000K's, alternating. The bud sites getting hit by the 4000K's directly are a little more attractive than the sites being hit by the 3000K. A little more frost. A little more developed looking.

I should not have said anything as silly as don't buy the 3's.

Love my cobs, just wanted to try the new qb's out. If you want to replace your existing cobs with boards....I'd say only you can quantify if it's WORTH it. I grabbed a tent for my qb's. My cob tent will stay a cob tent until I have the time to hybridize my qb's and cobs.

How fatr do you keep your cobs from canopy..That thing is still Mars for me..
I have 2x200w cobs dimmed to 360w in my 3,3x3,3 tent

Usually, I keep them 12-16" away from the top of the canopy. Right now, I have some moms flowering out and they are too tall for my usual light height. They are now 6-8" ofc tge canopy, some leaves have been crisped during stretch from nearly touching the cobs. I have no bleaching or heat stress tho. Plenty of air circulation helps greatly.

Edit to add- I have 3 bars of 4 cxb 3590. Two bars (outside)are on an hlg-185 for 200 watts and 1 bar (middle) an hlg 320-2100 .Lil over 700 watts in a 4.5x4.5x7 tent.
