OP:

Grow space is approximately 24"w X 17" Deep X 30" Tall

I plan to grow just one plant and pray to god its female :?

Its all the room i can afford to keep my risk of detection down.

Im using:

4x 18watt 1200 (4800 total) lumens 6500K
1x 42watt 2700 lumens 2700K

i have 1 plant that i heat stressed almost to death with incandescent bulbs (i had no clue what i was doing) that is still in my grow box, but i have other seeds germinating right now. i started the germination yesterday.

So it will be replaced soon. The 6500K lights are on a 2-bulb splitter in 2 sockets suspended from my clothes hanger bar by 60 lb wire. so i have 2 bulbs just off to the side and just above the plant. The larger 2700K is on a lamp still, that i sat in the gro box. it sits about 6-8 inches above the plant, and right beside it...its as close as i can get it without taking the lamp apart and suspending that bulb too. Which is 100% possible if needed.

Will this light setup work for 1 plant? i may keep the burned one in there too, just push it in the corner.

I have 1 fan on the floor with the plants, and another on the top shelf of my closet blowing down.

i tried to get feedback in the newbie section, but was met with tips on germinating my seeds instead??? damn stoners...lmao :eyesmoke:

bumpity bump.

here are some pics

edit:
this plant WAS NOT grown under CFL's its a botched up plant from my last setup. i just got CFL lights this week and i just added the top on the box this yesterday. the plant seen here is just here as a 'place holder' until my freshly germinated new bag seeds sprout and i pick a new one to grow pure CFL

First off... Get rid of the aluminium foil. The white walls are better than foil.
Second.. get some real ventilation and it might work.
Third. Why does everybody think CFL lights are grow lights on these forums?:wall:

4th, dont come to the CFL section if you dont like or grow with CFL's?

Im doing the best i can with what i have to work with. i dont have a bunch of $$$ to invest in big lights and extensive ventilation. I cant dedicate a whole room to it. Im sorry i cant grow as good as you. Im growing this for small personal use only. im not trying to get huge dank buds. i just wanna see if i can grow one, seed to bud.

Kiss my a$$ and leave my thread if you are just gonna come in here and hate. I'm not trying to be mean, but I came to the CFL section for CFL advice, not to have someone hate on me for doing the best i can with what i got.

CFL's can grow weed. so, they are grow lights.

also, i dont see how white paint reflects light better than a sheet of metal. tons and tons of people use foil to reflect light. whats the big deal?

oh yea, and....

my plant IS messed up looking, but it all happened BEFORE i switched to CFL's, since i switched to CFL's she is looking 10 times better.

Look, sorry I hated on your CFL's.
Tempermental are ya?
I did however try to give you some advise there.
CFL lights are too hot in quantities.. with no real fresh incomming air.
And the foil, trust me. Its no good. Foil creates hot spots with what light it doesn't eat up. The white background is much more reflective. Mylar is pretty inexspensive and what you would want to use though.

where can i pick up mylar? online or department stores?

Not bein temperamental, i just thought you came in here for the sole purpose of hating. and i hate people like that. so my bad for comin off like a dick too...

The way the fan is sitting, it pulls air in through a 2" x 30" crack between the board and wall, and i have it angled up (not in that pcik though) to push air out of the top (the air flows right over the CFL's and any heat they produce is pushed out the top) its the best i can do with the space i have available. The best i can do to avoid detection really...

How old is your plant? My set up looked similar to yours, id definitely get some mylar. And it sound like your getting plenty of fresh air. Just love them and they will love you back!

I agree with the above poster as far as gettin rid of the foil, it creates crazy hot spots and flat white paint is better if you are on a budget. I would try to keep those lights as close as you can to your plant to minimize that stretch. Is your plant bagseed? Here are some pics of my grow, the first one, and we are on day 46. We are growing Diesel Ryders... and do they smell good.

Its bag seed. i JUST switched to CFL a few days ago. i was using regular bulbs cause i didnt know any better until i found this place. The plant is a few weks old. i dont remember exactly when it was cause i wasnt really serious about it until it actually started to grow. thats why i have new seeds that i started germinating yesterday, hopefully they sprout so i can start over again with a fresh plant in my "new" setup. The plant shown above WAS NOT grown under CFL's. Its just in there as a "figure piece" to show you guys the setup until my new plants start to sprout.

i will ditch the foil and see if its still as bright down there.

edit:

im also totally open for suggestions on soil to plant my new sprout in if the seeds germinate. i planted this one in outside dirt at first. only to find it was full of small flies? Immediately i changed to some miracle grow potting soil my room mate had, and no flies in about a week so i think im good.

hell yea man. i clicked your sig link and i liked your plant, its exactly what im looking for. maybe i will switch to 12/12 from seed and see what happens. will i need to change my mix of bulbs to more blue or red to go 12/12 from seed? i have 36% 2700K and 64% 6500K mix right now. 7500 total lumens. idk if all that matters or not

lumens are important and u got enough for 1 plant you'll need more red cfls for 12/12 from seed, like a 2:1 ratio... and mad props considering it was under regular lights lol id keep her around for experimental reasons

Just got rid of my foil, and added another top piece to my box. much brighter in there now

Im going to use this thread as my journal, instead of making a new one. this forum seems busy enough with out me making a bunch of threads too.

So anyway, critique me, help me. i just wanna grow some free smoke!!! (well cheap anyway, nothing is free)

in case anyone is wondering, my box is made entirely of only 2 materials. acid free foam core (32x40x1/8 sheets) cut to size. i get them at work, we go through them like water so i just snagged some scraps from the trash large enough for my needs. The other material used is something called ATG Tape. made by Scotch. you cant get this in stores as far as im aware, i ordered some a while back through a catalog at work. its like a brown roll of paper with adhesive between the layers, and you just roll it on pretty much, it rubs right off leaving no damage ever.

The white strips you see above the top are counter parts to strips below the tops that are ATG taped to the wall with the top inserted between them to hold it in place. the side closest is held in the same way on the left. I also made a floor out of it too in the bottom of the grow box.

stuff is like archival cardboard for art. but its all flat white! my walls are white to, so my plant is surrounded 360* in white

bump bump. im probably going to get a bag or soil today for my new seedlings that hopefully sprout.

suggestions on type of soil would be appreciated. i have access to walmart, lowes, home depot, and a few small mom-n-pop landscaping/gardening stores. Even a hydroponic store way across town, although i guess they wouldnt have soil...lol

I would look for something organic that is readily available at your local store.... that way you don't have to go searching whenever you need more soil. I used Black Gold potting soil, around $7 a cubic yard, just be sure and check for fungus gnats before you bring the bag in your grow area, I have heard that Black Gold can have them although we have never had a problem with ours.

Next grow may I suggest an autoflower plant if you can get your hands on some seeds. They stay small, so they are great for stealthy grows and they grow from seed to harvest in only 8-9 weeks. Autoflowers also grow under any lights, so when your big girls are vegging you can have little autoflowers flowering in the same light... sweet right?

We have posted some pics and have a thread on here you should check out. We love to share the knowledge that we have learned on our grow. Peace!

Your local hydro store will have soil, and nutes... Usually the best around too.... I have been using the Fox Farm nutes Grow Big and Tiger Bloom, got them at my not so local hydro store.
