I don't care if adding stuff will make it grow more buds, I just want to know if it's absolutely necessary. Do you think it'd be safe just using the soil and nothing else?

yes you will . i doubt there is enough juice in ocean forest to get you very far past veg without getting deficincies.

im on my 2nd grow and im using the same soil but i also got the extra nuts that foxfarm has like big bloom ,tiger bloom ,grow big and the extra strength beastie bloom so i think its going to help big time and as far as using nothing i dont think ur plants will do that well cause as u know every living thing needs food so ill keep u posted on my grow soon to come up . im growing 5 plANTS of snowwhite that i got from nirvana under a 400w light

I've used FFOF for all my grows, it will be good for AT LEAST a month (depending on growth), then it needs all nutes normally used to grow good weed.

unless you use supersoil or something similar, YOU WILL HAVE TO USE NUTES. is there a reason you dont want to add anything???
I'm trying to grow with the bare minimum as a test. I've read that you can grow it in plain dirt from the ground, so I figured you could do the same with this potting soil. Would it just be better to use dirt from the ground?

thats partially true and the reason being is, soil from the ground has nutrients naturally occouring in it from the soil life, decomposed organic matter, earthworms etc... anyways the reason your plant will do ok in the ground with no nutes is because of this, also because the sun is the brighest light you can get and the plants roots are not as restricted in the ground versus a pot. indoor growing is different and when you grow in containers, indoors or out, plants use up nutrients faster because there limited by what they can take in because they can only use whats in the soil where there roots can search. once the nutrients get used up in your pot your plants will get hungry and perform poorly without added food. if you want to grow bud, buy some nutes and feed your plant or i promise you will be dissapointed. if you dont believe me, see for yourself.

Cannabis is just another plant, forget about this silly "nute" business. Take the time to understand the symbiotic relationship between plants and microorganisms and you'll never look back. If you still insist on using the ocean forest, or whatever the flavor of the week is, source some QUALITY vermicompost and mix that in with your soil.

Buzzo, few post, SMART. Nutes are, as i found out, useless, minimal nutes + micro organisms = TREE

meaning good as the genetics could get. and yes i do i posted them in the 600 breeders showcase and 600 club threads called M1, and c-4 X casey jones and casey jones X calizhar. google it and it with my screen name and 600club riu dababydroman m1, ect. and it will probably come up. if you care so much not to believe me, why would i lie? it wont hurt to use a lil bit of extra nutes but its not completely necassary and that was teh ops question.

you dont need it till probably 3 months in but you can start adding hydroponic flowering nute or flowering compost tea about a week or 2 into flowering. i you do add nutes space it out by about 2 weeks at a time there is plenty to break down in fox farm. i used fox farm all the way thru veg my first grow and light doses of ionic during flowering and had good results.
