Do long flowering Sativas yield less than Indicas? (g/ per plant / month)

Some Sativa strains take a really long time to flower (10-13 weeks) compared to some Indicas (7-8 weeks). Generally, does the extra time translate into extra buds enough to make it worthwhile (with a scrog setup and limited plant count)?

I am a first time grower planning a small medical grow (10 plants) with a perpetual harvest Scrog setup, rotating between 5 aeroponic Rubbermaid stations with 2 plants each - each plant covering 1 m2 (3'x3') of screen. With 2 stations for vegging (2 m2 covered by 600w MH) and 3 for flowering (6 m2 covered by 2000w of HPS) with a cycle length of 2.5-3 weeks. Ideally, the plants will be vegged for 5-6 weeks and flowered for 8-9 weeks. I am contemplating growing one of the longer flowering Sativa strains (Arjan's Haze, Super Silver Haze), which would require flowering for 10-13 weeks and a 4 week cycle.

Basically, I could do a perpetual harvest with an Indica and harvest every 2.5-3 weeks, or go with a long flowering Sativa and push it back to harvesting every month or so. I am going to be really limited by plant number, but not by wattage or square feet. I am thinking that a longer flowering Sativa may be good to help fill out the screen if 6 weeks of vegging isn't enough to fill the m2 (since by going with a Sativa that flowers in 12 weeks, I'd have to change the cycle length to 4 weeks and thereby change the vegging length to 8 weeks - an increase of 33%).

Any thoughts?

Thanks guys. I hope you all are loving your herb while I subsist on Mexico's cheapest... :bigjoint:

Figured I'd bump this thread since I am wondering the same thing about the yield difference between indica/sativa.

I am very cerious to , I think the strain that takes longer to flower would yeild longer , I don't know if I have both of them among the strains that I bought. If you take a look at my journal and let me know if I have Sativa and Indicas

well if your measuring the plants in a given area then indicas will beat out the sativas, but like you said there is no size limit for the room so you could grow bigger plants, another option would be to put the sativas directly in to flower, they will still probably get 3 foot or so depending on the strain and you could skip vegging so the times would be closer for both plants, but to answer your question a 3 foot indica would yield more than a 3 foot sativa, if i were you i would find a strain i liked rather than go with something just because its sativa, you can always find a sativa domminant cross that will yield more and still have the sativa atributes you want

They are 2 totally different types of highs. It is more of an to each his own type deal. If you are growing medically, you wouldnt be asking a question about what type of plant you want...
