I use general organics line of nutes and they say not to ph the water. at first I was ph'ing the water before I added the nutes but after I read the bottom of the feeding chart that read not to PH I decided to test with the nutes in and it lowered my PH to 6.8.

I use promix btw.

I dont know how anyone can grow at optimal strength in any hydro/aero setup without ph testing. I like my ph at 5.5-5.8 and found that it makes a huge difference. If I go to 6 or higher I loose weight and size. If i go 5 or lower then plants dont eat and drink in correct amounts and I loose again. I have never met a large scale grower thats into hydro or aero that doesnt ph and watch ppm like a hawk. I have seen some just closet growers wing it ok but I know they could do better. i would have to say they were fucking with you if they are really growing for medical or top line quality bud. I know soil is less picky but I still check run off and pre water ph before I give nutes so I know what I need to increase or decrease to maximixe final out put. It also lets you know before nutrient lock out so your not trying to fix a problem you could have prevented.I know many Cali medical and non legal large op and many from across the country all ph and ppm or tds monitor.

lives in grass valley California and has brought me to his friends house and showed me 100,000$ crops right in front of my face
Were they in soil? Outdoor? I can see not ph'ing in outdoor soil. Indoor soil I think it depends on how much dolomite is in the soil, whether it's more than just organic content like peat and bark (whether it has sand?). Also if you use organic nutrients or water for significant runoff with synthetic nutrients. (Overfeeding synthetics will definitely acidify the soil. It took a ton of ph-up to raise my nutrients when I mixed them too strong. So, that probably goes hand in hand. Feed mild nutes continuously, with good runoff to help the soil maintain its ph.).

I'm just beginning to not ph my indoor soil grow. I have a decent Control Wizard Accurate 8 ph probe. I can easily watch the soil ph and stop what I'm doing if it goes low. I'll try to remember to post an update.

I like to think there are levels of happiness in a plants. Yeah cannabis can survive a lot of stuff including not testing ph...but your cannabis plant won't be as happy as she would if ph was optimal. You get out what you put in, Keep em happy and they will return the favor. Jmo

Good luck with a 100,000$ hydro grow lol, but yea the growers I know have been living off of pot for 40 years and never once have tested ph so I guess they must be lazy, even tho I doubt any of u have grown nearly as much as these guys have. The new age growers just think they know everything cause they harvested a pound in there backyard
And others think they know everything from talking to one guy. everybody has "that" friend! lol

This topic of PH has to be right up there with "Do you flush your plants?"
Some things around here are just a natural hot button topic. This must be one of 'em.

I'm sorry but anyone who even considers indoor for anything but a personal smoke stash is an idiot. There's so much overhead and everything about it is so limited. It's crazy going on this site and seeing how seasoned of a grower people think they are cause they have a high ranking rollitup account lol
Im not sure I follow this as almost all top grade or medical marijuana is grown indoors. Very little is grown outdoors. The outdoor product is of lesser quality and much harder to control the environmental factors as it is with indoor. Yes large commercial grows happen out side gaining yield over quality , but if your thinking out door is the norm for medical grade medicine then you would be very wrong. This is true of all countries growing medical grade. Now if I am misreading what you wrote I apologize , but fact is the better more potent cleaner mj is grown indoors in a sterile environment in large scale meaning thousands of plants. My Warez buddies grow outdoors in huge volume but that's just outdoor commercial.

this is a test. No lag. No prob
PH and Nutrient Uptake charts!
kids...
But, that doesn't mean a properly balanced and buffered soil needs to be watered at that ph. Unless the nutes are strong, it seems like the soil would affect the solution's ph more than the solution would affect the soil's.

I'm curious if anyone's tried not phing their nutrients (in soil) and had a bad result. I'm trying it now, but too soon to say.

Something I don't like about ph'ing nutrients is how ph-up contains nutrients. It's not sold as a nutrient, so they don't have to publish the exact contribution. (Gen. Hydro won't even tell you if you ask for it. They call it a "trade secret."). If the nutrients are strong, it takes a lot of phup to raise it. That's more K, making it even stronger nutrients. It becomes a vicious cycle where strong nutes aren't good for your soil, you have to ph adjust them because at that strength they are likely to pull the soil's ph. You adjust them and you have even stronger nutrients (even less healthy for the soil).

The answer is to avoid strong nutrients, so it won't require a lot of phup. But, my theory(!) is that nutrients that don't require a lot of phup don't have much "strength" to pull the soil. The soil's buffers and interactions will pull the nutrient solution to it more easily (just like less phup is needed to move the solution.).

What I don't understand is how houseplants grow ok without phing what's poured in. So, I'm trying it with a couple plants right now.

(I agree hydro probably needs it because there is no soil and buffers like dolomite to hold it steady.).

Houseplants survive and outdoor planet, trees, flowers survive and cannabis will survive also without ph'ing I just believe it will perform better if all the the i's are dotted and t's crossed and everything is on point. Not p'h ing won't kill it. Just like a human if we drink dirty we will survive but out bodies won't like us very much. Or twins growing up one fed vegetables and vitamins and the other fed just McDonald's..they will both live, one would just be more healthier. I don't use heavy nutes for multiple reasons. I use bio bizz it's all organic. Ibuse microbe life photosynthesis plus it's not totally organic but close. The only really synthetic nute I use is calmag so I'm not hitting with strong nutes. Hope this helps

I run hudro and I use the same nutes water volume R.O , and have noticed after a night my ph balances it's self to 5.8 and swings upwards to around 6.2 so I use my og meter once I awhile but I usally never use my TDs meter anymore scent I run same nutes and water volume just no need .

A fool and knob sucker
Let's see how he would go ina country like our countries where it's highly illegal
And very risky to grow outdoors
So true. All the commercial grows over here are done indoor. To easy to spot from the air, the green just stands out so bad against our native fauna

You clearly know a lot about this industry. Do go on and tell us more about how the commercial cannabis industry works.

Google "warehouse grow" for a hint.

People grow legal crops indoors profitably, and your conclusion is that there's too much overhead to grow weed indoors? Shows what you know about the agriculture industry in general.
Lol do you have 20 grand a month to spend on pg&e ??? No cause your broke . Obviously if you scale anything big enough you can make profit but that's just not practical for most

You've probably never even seen 100 pack of weed before kid
Please explain what a 100 pack of weed is...
You sound ignorant and full of shit- please set us all straight so we can all see how right you are and how smart you think you are...

BTW I run multiple 14 gallon dwc systems and have only ever "ph'd" my water a few times... Its not that hard to read your plants guys.... Get a clue and realize that YOU are not making the plant grow, NATURE IS.... You can only control variables..... Once you get a grasp on your strain and nutrients, you won't need that PH pen anymore, I haven't used one in MONTHS, and am HIGHLY successful.... Even managed to win an Inda-gro 420 with a plant grown in mini dwc, WITHOUT ASSITANCE FROM A PH PEN. Use it if you need it, like training wheels, hopefully one day you won't need it. Then your balls will drop, because now you're a "big boy"

Why even bother coming on here. You sound like an immature 15 year old who lives with your mum and dad.

Seriously though, if you know it all and have family that grows hundreds of thousands of $ worth of weed, why are you even on here?? It's because you are fu of shit and everyone knows it.

I think I hear your mom calling, run along little boy.
