Do we need to harden off our plants B4 putting a new cob light on?

I got a bit of bleaching when I put my new cob diy into a 185w burple grow.

I have seen several posts about bleaching in other grows that have switched from burple/cfl/T5 to cob.
Growers that veg under the cobs don't seem to have this issue. Do we need to harden off plants like they were going outside with the 3500K cobs?

Maybe just raise em a bit higher or if you can dim, do so.

i think burples hit the plants harder than the light meters or our eyes would indicate. ive only ever seen straight bleaching in absence of other heat stress under blurples

I have never seen any bleaching under that burple and I have used it for 5 years and some plants grew right up to lenses.

I think the reason you don't see it in veg as much because the light is higher or dimmed. I think I am seeing it slightly on my alien strawberry. I turned my light back down from 300w to 200 and am going to monitor. Bish is growing like cray though. I think I need to build a light for my veg tent. And get back to automated in veg instead of hand feeding. I miss those fat stalks and crazy growth.

I think it's just a matter of intensity. I've seen bleaching well into a grow when the flowers got to close to the emitters. The good thing is that it seems to be a defense mechanism, shutting down the chlorophyll production and reflecting as much light as possible, rather than actual damage. If it happens just move the light up a few inches and now you know how close you can get your plants to that particular light source.

As far as young plants, I like to keep the light a little higher (or dimmed) for the first week or two while they harden up.

Have you seen the bleaching with COB's or discreet red/blue or both? Was it bleached leaves or "hash tips"? How close was too close?
