Do You have to worry about Hermies with light switches

Or can you keep autos in a tent with a photoperiod that u change for other plants or will they hermie if you switch them from 18/6 to 12/12 at any given time or vice versa

I believe major light changes like that are a no-no for autos, they dont seem to respond well. Either with stunted growth or hermie, but have personally never tried(risked) it. If it is a necessity it is prob best to decrease slowly like an hour a night for a week or slower if possible to reduce stress. GL

It all depends on how many changes you make, reason being , if your plants are feminized autos they are likely to be more sensitive to light changes as the seeds are normally from hermie plants, if otherwise shouldn't be a problem.
By the way If your seedlings are from 18/6 and then switching to 12/12 once normally wouldnt create much harm. Remember if its an auto it normally would grow irrespective of light schedules but its good to stick to one preferable atleast 20/4 or 18/6.

Once you've made your decisions on the trichomes, And then you could even switch to 2 days darkness preharvest to try and ooze its resins out. Darkness is crucial IMO for resin production. Generally 24/0 are supposed to work fine too, but believe that, in giving autos some sleep .Its also efficient and cost effective, IMO a bit better one way or another when compared to 24/0 .

Good luck.

Thanks for the long answer.
I was only thinking about light changing if hey were in the same tent as regular cannabis plants so it wouldn't be more than once in their life most likely because they'd finish before a full flower cycle so unless you switch on week one and then on week 7 it should be only once.

you should be fine i let mine sleep randomly on occasion if i have straight laced company or if its gonna be a hot day i turn them off .
you really shouldnt have to worry about it unless you have days of darkness the plant will only hermi if it thinks its gonna die .
btw a forced hermi and a genetic one are two totally different critters a forced hermi wont pass on the hermi trait if it passes on then its a preexisting genetic flaw from weak or unstable genetics

We started our Autos in our Veg room and they were well into week 3 when we had to move them (for lack of space) to the 12/12 room-- they actually did better in there... But I would have to say, it MAY depend on the strain being grown... some of the faster auto-flowering plants may do better with more light- while the longer flowering ones may like the change... I can not see where it would cause hermying though- since they are 'auto-flowering' the light cycle shouldn't matter... ????
