I have been using bottled water this whole little grow. Besides being expensive, it's a pain in the butt to keep it stocked. I make constant trips to the store to refill by 1 gal r/o bottles. In addition, this next grow I'm about to start will be using more water.
The reason I've been using bottled over tap is because my tap water has chloramine instead of chlorine. Chloramine doesnt evaporate... ever.

Now I want to find something that is cost effective and that works. I dont really want a home style r/o filter.

I am currently trying out this product, but I've only had it for 1 week. So far, it looks like it's working okay, but it may be to soon to tell:

4oz Amquel Plus Aquarium Water Toxicity Detoxifier from Kordon. Treats 240 gallons.
  • AmQuel+ is nontoxic and saves on the need for as many water changes
  • Removes/detoxifies all of the kinds of toxic nitrogen compounds in the water
  • Removes/detoxifies all forms of chloramines/ammonia/ammonium/nitrites/nitrates from the water
  • Stability and reliability reduces the need for water quality tests of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate
  • Removes/detoxifies toxic pheromones from the water
  • Does not affect the water's pH (acidity/alkalinity)
  • Does not interfere with the beneficial nitrifying bacteria or their food sources
  • Does not interfere with the beneficial sludge-removing bacteria or their food sources
=======================
What do you think about the product and is there something better.

Any help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!bongsmilie

Thats exactly what I use. That or any type of pond water detoxifier or chlorine remover will make tap water safe for your plants. I have a Koi Pond and noticed the stuff removes heavy metals, chlorimines, chlorine and a load of other toxic crap. I have been adding it to my tap for years with no problems. You should get a ph meter and a tds meter too to make sure you dont overnute because of the tap water. My tap has a ppm of 305 before you add nutes. That could be a problem if you dont use a ppm meter because your ppm for veg should range between 600-800 and you are allready at 305 before you start mixing in the nutes. Plus the ph of my tap is 7.8 which is way high for growing pot. It should be 6.5 for soil and 5.5 for hydro. Good luck with your grow show. Peace Out!

That's great news. I wonder how many other folks are using conditioned tap water as well?

Looks like we have the same hard water. Mine runs 250-300 as well and my pH is very high 8-8.5. I do have meters and I callibrate them monthly. I try to keep my hydro pH'd between 5.5-6.5

When I read the bottle and did the math, I came up with 10 drops/gallon. Is that right? How much do you use???
