you should try to get the root facing down. they will correct themselves. it just may take longer for them to break through the top.just let them grow it might take as long as 2 weeks to break the top of the soil. when planting them use a pencil to make a hole to plant them in the soil

yea it should go in the ground and look like a football on a tee. also plant to sees twice as deep as the seed is wide so if the seed is 4mm then plant it 8-10mm under the dirt.

It doesn't really matter, is the conclusion that was reached in another thread. After researching different sites with different instructions,it came out about even. Some say up and some say down.I personally planted mine with the tap root down, figuring it would be better, as I didn't want the root to accidentally be exposed to light. They germed with no problems.Fdd made a good point when he asked who sets them all right in mother nature?Gravity will do its thing either way.

This is why light is important during germination... (well, on top of the medium, it still filters through a little). The root not only follows gravity but also try to grow away from the light.

I like the point down into the ground method... It does seem to get the sprout out of the ground faster (small sample, could be misleading)

THis one was planted saturday, today is tuesday...

if they were the wrong way they would correct themselves, but depending on how deep you put them it could drain them of energy needed to grow through the soil. roots always curve out of the shell. when it looks like a cane you put the root pointing down so the curved part is pointing up.
