Does Super Soil Work?

Hello so today im looking for a good grow tent setup and was looking at mediums to use on my seeds thats when my friend recommended "Super soil" he said that it dosent require any general hydroponics at all. He found pre made soil on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Kind-Soil-Hot-single-lb/dp/B00S1HRLPQ

Now my question is this really trustworthy and i only have to add water on it and watch it grow. nothing else.. or Are they better mediums out there. Thank you for reading and I apologize if i sound like a complete noob because i am.

Yes, but I recommend you create your own. Cali Green on YouTube has a pretty good super soil video. I'd add a little more perlite to his recipe though.

Fully amended soil is not as easy as plant a seed and water till you get buds. You can't use it on your seedlings and clones and you can run into deficiencies or toxicity.

And even growing in a soil like fox farms ocean forest can be frustrating during transition of you don't know how to read plants.

If you don't know why I suggest reading a common grow book like Ed Rosenthal's growers handbook.

For a first grow the easiest way is to use pro mix hp or its equivalent and a good 1 part complete nute like Dyna Grow foliage pro for chemical based and Botanicare pure Blend Pro Grow for natural based.

Then follow the guides or at least 1/2 strength directions and watch and learn.

It is a stressful learning curve since we are hoping to get high and save money.

Short answer, YES it works.

Long answer.....I have 3 differing soil "formula's" for differing strain requirements and of course the "base" soil for seedlings. It takes time to perfect what your looking to do, and most strains run differing needs.
Some say I'm anal about my soils and strains but, I have the time to get what I want from them....

I still have particular organic nutrients on my shelf, along with organic supplements to give the plant what is "says" it needs at particular times - if need be! It "needs" more then not.

Many "advanced" water only soil growers have a healthy case of OCD about their soils!

FWIW I've been using the same soil (just re-amend annually) for years now & it just seems to get better with age - I'm running 5 different strains in the same soil atm & all are responding beautifully with zero deficiency showing.

I make my own, it's the best weed Ive grown so far. Dr who knows his shit , literally LoL.

A well balanced living organic soil is all thats needed for any strain at any stage of growth. check out the no till section there is alot of great info that should get you started. Subcools Supersoil recipe is HOT and will burn young plants .

I'm going this same route. I just got 15lbs of it. Trying it with autos for my 1st grow in over 25 years (thanks voters!). I'm following the same ratio they recommend with coco coir in 5gal soft pots under a 400w hps. We'll see how it goes. Since 3gal pots would contain enough "kind soil" for the life of an auto, I'm guessing that going to 5gal "should" guarantee enough nutes in the soil for the complete grow (and hopefully a higher yield). Again, we'll see.

From my research, I've seen nothing but positive results. I was originally going to go with a DWC system but ultimately decided this would probably be a better way to get back into the swing of things.

I've heard this more than once but I've personally never had a problem - once they get a good root system on them I re-pot from solo cup of a very lightly amended seedling mix straight into SS. And I personally am very generous with the worm castings (and all the goodies actually).

i use the same soil from seedling or clone right through flower 1/3 sphagnum peat moss , 1/3 vermi /compots, 1/3 aeration amended with a kelp meal, neem meal , oystershell flour mix in equal parts @ 2 cups per cu ft. of base and also 4 cups per cu ft . of rockdust. i feed mostly water but occasionaly i will give a act or sst
