does timing matter?

ok, just a quik Q: I usually turn my lights on around 5 at night, and try to turn them off by 9 in the morning, leaving them 8 hours of dark... anyways, a couple times these last 2 days, I didn't get the lights on til 8 or 9, and then I forgot to turn them off until 2... is it critical to make sure you do it at the same times everyday?

I don't have the money for a timer till payday, but that would be nice
You can get good cheap ones for about $6-$7! Make sure your plants are staying on a strict lighting schedule as to not induce hermies by messing with the lighting. Anyway, good luck on your grow! I'm sure all will be good.

alright, I definatly need to know that, and I will TRY to wake up by 9, hehe.... o yeah, do you think 16 hours is enough light for 5 inch plants?? is it better to have more light right now or less?

I had the same issue , i was my timer for a while, they came out ok but i feel
the taste and density, and even stretch were affected.
That is one of the mistakes I wont let happen again, on my road to perfection (Damn this is a long ass trip)
Dont worry your still gonna get some great smoke,
Here is a Question For Debate:
If light cycle does get interupted?
What are proper ways to correct
OR
Are we just Ass-Out

I have and always will use 16/8 lighting. 16/8 lighting is said to induce more females and larger root growth. I say stick with 16/8.

Well, I don't know who said that besides you, but here's what I say. :blsmoke:

Lighting intervals don't make much difference during veg, as long as you give them enough hours of light to keep them in veg. Light interval stress won't induce hermies during veg, maybe so during flowering.

During flowering is when you must keep a strict lighting schedule so as to provide with 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness/day.

Not to be disrespectful in any way potroast, but haven't you read the countless topics that have been in the forums in the past? People have done experiments using the most common lighting hours (24/0,18/6,16,8) and have stated what I said above is correct. Unless you have any information otherwise, I am sticking with my method.

You may be correct on the interrupting part in stages, but I have heard 16/8 in the past is the way to go. I guess whatever everyone thinks works for them is good. Once again potroast, only relaying information I have heard and read in the past. You are a valued asset to the site and as always make good posts! Let me know if you find any information proving me wrong. Thanks!

I have looked at some timers. The ones I have seen are on 30 min to 9hr intervals.
There are 24hr timers arent they or am I just looking in wrong place.
For instance I want to check Lowes and walmart but I do not want to ask where they are. I hate walking around and looking for these things.
espcially stoned to the bone .

That is why I smoke before I go.
I find when I don't the traffic and general ignorance of people in my way make me anxious to get back and smoke.

This is my self medication we are talking about here.

i've found not a lot of difference between 18/6 and 16/8 and hence use the latter,i did my first grow under 18/6 for veg and my 2nd 16/8 for veg,and the 2nd grow yeilded more per plant than the 1st,4 oz average per plant 2nd time,2 oz per plant first time, though i put the bigger yeild down to experience, not light schedules, personally i feel your plant will grow fine with what they're used to,for example the temps in my grow room rarely goes below 85f but often reaches 100f,but the plants seem fine,it's all they know, but that's just my opinion

awsome... thank you guys for your help... I'm trying 20/4 right now... what do you think about that? and also later on if I want to change it to like 16/8, do I gradually change it, or all at once?

I would say gradually as not to throw your plants off guard. Try reducing it hour by hour on a gradual time period.
