DOG Kush LED Grow Journal

Theyre not really loud. Sounds like a good gaming computer. And once theyre in the tent and its shut all i can hear are the intake and exhaust fans which are easily twice as loud.

Mine basically have 8 computer fans per fixture and even with 2 running in my 4x4 its super quiet. What you probably heard was the carbon filter or exhaust fans.

Either way nothing compared to the noise made cooling my 600w. Im still going to run my carbon filter but i can get a speed controller now since i dont need to use it to keep my tent cool.

As for the lights they work really well so far. Ive been fuckin up my plants due to lack of time some early technical difficulties and being a high ass so theyre a bit stunted but once i get everything back on track they should really start taking off. The true test will be in flowering but i feel like theyll have no problem yielding like my 600w.

Ill post pictures the second i edit them. Had to upgrade my computer so i could run some better programs so now i have to redownload all of them and let windows update fully so they might not be up til later.

Ive been wanting to fuck with co2 but want to wait til we move to the basement incase it was to leak into the lower floors. I will consider it though.

You wont be disappointed with them. Did he give you a discount code?? I got one when i ordered and i think its for 10 or 15% off. Not too much but a couple bucks haha.

Let me know and i can pm you.

Nice! Ive used them for videos because they run so much cooler than the hot ass studio lights we used to have. Much better color temp too! Were trying to make them battery powered and ive seen a few diys about it so ill be trying that soon.

picture uploader is being stupid so i will have pictures as soon as its back working

I think i over flushed/fucked up the ph of my medium. theyre really hurt and now its because i lost track of time after over nuting them. Gave them way to much regular water for how old they are so theyre showin def probably because of that might be a slight ph imbalance locking out shit. Theyll be getting transplanted in a few days and fed with nutes again soon. Ill also be messin with the ph and seein if the run off is anything crazy out of whack.

OK! Finally got this thing to upload. I think it was a combo of unupdated software, some adblockers over blocking, and riu bein buggy every once in a while.

But besides that i couldnt upload them in their full quality so theyre a little fuzzy.

Here are 4 more DOG seeds that i popped. 3 outa 4 showed roots after a few days and got put in air pots yesterday.

All the DOGs before transplant strugglin!!!

Well thats them, sorry it took so long for pictures. I have so many backed up that i wasnt able to post.

These things are growing extremely bushy. It may not look like it but they all have a solid 15-25 branches. the taller skinnier ones have less and the bushier ones have more.

If i get bored and edit the footage ill throw that up too!

Were lookin at another week in the pots to stretch out then clones then probably a week to recover then they hit the flower rooom!

Not sure. This is my firrst run with a full set up of LEDs. With my 600w hps and 2 gallon pots i usually average 1.5-3 zips per plant. Sometimes a little more when i veg a little longer. The hog got a pretty constant upper 3s everytime cause she was a producer. So at minimum 6 ish zips. Hopefully alot more since in veggin so long and topping. Plus the benefit of the LEDs means ill have some denser nugs because i wont be fightin with heat.

Theyve also been stunted and will need to get alot bigger before i flip.

Yeah the problem was i lost track of time when i over fed them and flushed them to much. Theyre back on nutes and ill have a few pictures up soon.

Cool I will look for them man! And what dosages of dynagrow are you giving them? Are you taking PPM readings? Have you metered your runoff to test PH and PPM? They've been kinda up and down and i know you said you think you messed up with feeding so I'm just curious.

The over feeding of dyna was 10ml per gallon which is a pretty potent mix for them only being about 2 or 3 weeks old at the time.

I flushed and watered with a nectar of the gods additive that helps buffer the ph of the soil. After the over flushing ive now returned to 5ml of dyna gro grow formula and will probably switch or add some of the bloom formula soon once they take off after the transplant. The holidays really fucked me up this year. And the weather didnt help.

We've all been there man lol. I hope you get a handle on them so they can be growing with vigor going into flower. When are you aiming to switch?

about 2 weeks give or take

just transplanted them a few days ago so im gonna let them grow into some of the new dirt and hit em with some appropriate strength nutes for a couple weeks too

Ill probably take clones a week from now then let them recover for a week then flower them. Mostly just waiting on them to explode. Fucked up enough and were on the road to recovery. haha

They are some bushy bitches too. Im gonna have plenty of clones to take and might even have to get rid of some undergrowth unless they stay really short.

Im itchin to test out these LEDs in flower and if everything woulda been on point to this time id already be in flower haha.

But ya live and learn. got the few more DOG seeds goin too so ill hopefully get those righ ton the first go.

Yep, live and learn. When you upcanned to those containers I don't think they should need any feeding for weeks. Basically, I don't feed unless they tell me they're hungry :bigjoint:As long as you are upcanning through veg on the way to flower, little to no food should be necessary with a quality soil mix. Eagerness can get the best of us sometimes lol.

Hoping for a fast turnaround. As you know, if a plant is sick its usually one of three things... Too much food, too little food or out of range PH. If you have a PPM meter you can always collect runoff, filter (I use reusable coffee filters from Cuisinart) and meter to compare PPM's going in compared to going out as well as test PH range. That is a quick and easy way to diagnose any issues with the plant.

I tried LED's for flowering for a hot minute and had issues similar to yours. The plants definitely have different nutrient requirements compared to HID so there is definitely a curve!

I still do use LEDs for veg, and I just go 100% organic. Zero issues that way.

Did you notice they needed less, more, or just different?

I use pro-mix which has very little if any nutrients in it. So thats why they react so fast. Quicker than soil but not as fast as coco or hydro. So instead of watering once a week like soil or every day like coco im in at around every other to every 2 days watering. Ive heard they need different amounts of nutes under LED but never tested it myself. I can say for sure theyre more hungry than most when they were younger. Might just be the strain though. Having the different phenos is a little rough too cause the sat leaning ones are starving the hardest but i dont wanna give too much to overdo the fat indi ones. Thats why i love clones. All the same, all nutes and ph the same, all pots are the same size so none freak out because its too small. Cant wait to have a mother from these.

Ahhhhh, yes I see. I effin love Pro-Mix BX! I've recently gone to some pro mix for veg. I like to mix in some Espoma Tomato Tone and top dress with EWC.

Did you just start using Pro Mix or have you used it awhile?

Either way, runoff/filter/ppm/ph meter is valuable, especially for neutral substrates with no included or added organic nutrients. I highly recommend trying it especially with the new lights so you can tell EXACTLY what the plants using and control residual to prevent salt buildups and PH drifting.

What PH ranges are you using for peat based growing? I find that pro-mix uses the same as soil pretty much, I just feed with 6.3-6.6 typically and have no issues under either T5 or LED for veg.

I've never grown Dog, but I will say that I am able to grow my plants surprisingly long (to me anyways) in Pro Mix with little to no added nutrients until at least 2-3 weeks. Then its typically time to upcan with some organics and/or very light feeding.

The roots just love that shit!

I hear you on the clones. Its so much nicer to have that "one" pheno that you can get to know intimately.

I ordered a ppm meter forever ago but i lost it ill have to try that.

I use promix hp and have for the majority of my growing time. It takes a fair bit of nutes depending on the strains preference but generally i feed every other watering.

Give or take depending on strain and demand and where theyre at in the cycle. I dont use anything with it except a little myco stuff ive had for a while.

I really want to switch to coco because ive seen friends grow in it and get better results when theyd do side by sides with soil/promix.

you should try some of breeders boutiques stuff. Theyve got blue pit which is a dog cross and its supposed to be a good one. Only 20 bucks or so for a 10 pack and 40 for most of the other strains unless theyre new releases or discounted. Ive wanted to grab some blue pits for a while but dont need to add anymore confusion to this grow hahaha.
