Unless the stalks are weak & you do not have a fan blowing on the plants to make them stronger its highly doubtfull you'll need to stake the plants, some times its nessacary to stake but with small sized plants its very rare & usually caused by weak stalks & branches.

When to bud depends on a few different issues.

How much space do you have till you run out of room or the plants reach the lights.

What type lighting & how much total wattage are you running,if using cfl's the real world watts are the lower of the 2 figures, for example when they list a bulb as being 25 watts but it puts out the light of a 100 watt bulb its still only a 25 watt light.

How much yeild from each plant would you like to get when you harvest, remember the longer the plants veg the larger they get & the more bud they produce.

Btw,i just looked at your pics, good job so far, they are some fatties:blsmoke:

thanks man, the only reason Im doing alright is cause all the help on here from you guys. I have about another 3 3 1/2ft to move the light up and time is not a factor as I I can wait for a better yield. The only reason I mnetion staking is becasue it says too on the barneys farm violater kush description. Id rather not but do not want to come home and see a toppled over plant you know. ANy furthur advice would be awesome.

keep in mind when flowering your plants gain about 2 to 3x's the height they are before going into flower.... so it depends on how tall you want them at final height. After that if you want more bud then wait til they presex at least on their own...btw doesnt look good for the 2 on the right...but thats JMHO hope Im wrong.

Right where the new growth is just cut the stem off and 2 more stems will sprout. here are pictures for an example. Actually I cannot find the pics my bad just look at my thread towards the end. I have put a few pics of the plants I have topped and the new growth.

leave a message so I know you seen them. Also I really hope your running a fa, because once they begin to flower the waight will bring it down if they are not strong enough to hold it.

since your plants have some size to them turn them into bushes by pulling the top down to the edge of the pot with a twist tie. Instead of having 1 main cola you will have like 30 colas. I been bush growing for years and you never cut the tops, thats where your power lies. Every shoot you see on your plant and every node will turn into a top. Use more twist tie to locate them in the right spot. I usually have at least 10-30 tops per plant but hold a height of 6 inches off the pot when I flower. Yeild will be 2 onces on the odd small one and up to half a pound on bigger ones with a quarter pound per plant average. Why have lots of plants when you can just a few bushes doing the same thing. There is no possible way to get more yeild then pulling down. Try it once you will never go back

Oh forgot to add a pot plant is not sexualy mature till the leafs comming out have at least 7 points. More mature it is the bigger it gets, I get a kick out of guys that trip 3 point leaf plants as they never really do that well next to a bush

I agree, but have never tried this method. I have seen plants that have been tied down, and never tried it. You really don't nee to top as long as you place the new nowds in the proper place.

I have been running a fan constantly in the room but it is usually not directly on them but they still get shakin abit when the breez is movin around the room, i pt a fan on them every so often, Im probabl going to stake them soon, thanks for all the info o topping and bending, Im not sure what road to take but appreciate all the advice. Staking will prevent toppling over when the buds come right??
