Thnx for the welcome dst and feel free to chime in anytime. I have gained an enormous amount of knowledge from reading re-reading and then reading some more here on riu so i am more than willing to help others as they have helped me.
nice attitude , look forward to seeing your results , gl

Although what you have described sounds impressive, I don't really see the point of it. The kind of control you're talking about can already be achieved with timers and thermostats. You still have to manually change the water, PH, PPM, transplant and nutes.

However, that said, it is still a good little project.

airwaves the point is that things such as res changes ppm and ph can all also be automated. With the computer control every aspect can eventually be automated. Timers and thermostats cant be controlled or monitored from remote locations. The point is its better than timers and thermostats. Im not sayin its gonna grow better weed than a timer or thermo, just more control, options, toys, things to play with, its a hobby and a passion and im thinking about the way of the future not the way of today.

If you're talking about 100% automation, well then that's different.

it makes a lil sense airwaves its just a metaphor to express that there was a point to it all. and heck yeah were talkin 100% autmation. That is ideally the goal if it is feasible. In reality if it is possible it would be great.

I think that 100 percent automation is something that is not quite *practical* just yet. With that said, this is a fucking brilliant setup bro! I can DEF see the reasoning behind this. Who wouldn't wanna be able to grab their phone and check all the levels in the grow room? I mean... to be able to adjust all grow room variables while sitting through a meeting? Priceless.

+rep for you buddy, and may your ventures be fruitful ones! =-) bongsmilie

So, the question of the day is on cloning. I have recently taken my first clones from two mothers my friend gave me. I took these now as a sort of practice for the girls I started. If everything goes well i will stick with my current methos of takin a cutting, dippin it in rotting gej, and then into the rockwool. A qucik spray with some foliar nutes and then under a dome and t5. I believe this to be a good method. If anyone has advice or recommendations on a better, more succesful method. Please let me know.

You're fine on the cloning. As for the AN nutes, I'm using the Nutra-Dip tri-meter, so I'm not sure if it's ec x 500 or 700. But if you're 2 weeks in, with rooted clone and not two weeks from seed, I would be somewhere around 300-400 PPM, week 3 be around 600 towards the end of the week. Better to start low. I'm using Sensi-Grow with voodoo and carb load. Plants look great and the root system loves the voodoo and carb load. Hope this helps

thnx for your info on the nutes, i talk to advanced nutes all the time and still cant get a clear answer from them on what ppm should actually be.

so do you have the lights on motors to control their distance from the plants then??? They will need to be moved, and often... Very bad ass idea brutha!!! I like it!

Hey snutter thnx for the compliment! The lights are not yet on movers or motors to raise and lower but that can easily be accomplished. Initially I am trying to automate aspects that need to be monitored daily such as ph and temp and humidity and such. Once i get everything dialed in then we play with movers and other stuff.

Fucking sick dude. I think 100% automation is possible it just will take time and some thinking. You can do it.

I would like to be able to monitor my op using my computer and the internet. What tools do you use to measure ppm, temp, ph, etc? How can I hook them up to my computer? I don't need the automation at this point but I'd like to be able to check up on my grow from remote locations.

Well, I like it! Someone has to start putting the technology together for 100% automation. It's experimenting like this that gets the new technology out there!
