what does it mean to double rinse butter?

im going to use the crock pot for dummies method

I notice you add water...is that referring to the rinse?

would double rinse mean you wait for it to cool drain the water and add fresh water reheat and let cool again?

My guess is after you refrigerate, & drain the water from the butter, there will be a little scum residue at the bottom of butter solid, second rinse will clean it up.

I have read of cooking the cannabis in water for the first rinse, discarding that water, and starting over with fresh water, cannabis and butter. The rationale is that the double rinse improves the taste. I haven't made canna butter in awhile, but the butter made with water in the mix had superior, that is to say a much milde,r flavor. The batch I made with butter and cannabis was inedible without the water rinse.

I make my butter, really coconut oil, with water. Let it cool in the refridgerator, pour off the water, and then I remelt the hardened oil with fresh water, get it to near boiling and let it harden again, and remove the water a second time. This gets rid of a lot of the green chlorophyll color and taste. Then I do my decarb at 245°F for 20-25 minutes, when the bubbling stops.
