Double the Lights? Help Me Decide

Should I use both 400w HPS?

Hey guys and gals, I have a question for ya. In two weeks my Trainwreck babies will be going into flower. I have two 400w HPS lamps, both will be free by then. So the question is - would it be worth it to run both 400w lamps, or would it be a waste for five plants? I mean I know it would be 800w instead of 400w - but, the penetration wouldn't be any better, not like the diff between a 400w and a 600w or 1000w - and a single 400w is enough for five plants. So whatcha think guys?

more lights more yield... it may not penetrate more but you can position the lights for more coverage with two.

Get a 600w. I ran 2 400w's in the past and I run a 600w now. The 600w is much better and @ 200w less.

If that's not an option I would honestly say it depends on how long you vegged them for. If you have 5 tiny little plants 1x 400w might suffice. If they are of any real size than 2x 400w might work out better. You could even decide to do 2x 400w and setup a SCROG. You should be able to get a monster yield out of 2x 400w in a decent sized SCROG.

600w isn't an option right now, but it is on my "I want" list. Size wise - I topped them for four colas, so they are a bit on the short side, but pretty bushy - and will have vegged for eight weeks when I switch. Here's a pic of one taken last night, and still going for two weeks. So use both you think? Also - should I trim some of the undergrowth for more airflow?

Awesome, sounds like double lights have the vote - what about the airflow? Should I trim back some of the lower growth or not needed? (See pic above). They're pretty bushy.

Yep that's just one, they took the topping very well and all grew four colas for me.
