Wingnutt, thank you for bringing this to our attention, my friend. I had no idea. This is tragic news. My thoughts are with Ann and the family in this trying time. I will be donating what little I have to assist with the Shulgin family.

It is so encouraging to see the message of love and support across nearly every forum this man's work has touched. Truly inspiring. Get well Alex!

Thank you to Twiztidsage from Shroomery for this update from last night ( Nov 18 ) :

He is doing pretty well, this is from his wife, on his FaceBook page:

Dear Friends,
Sasha is in the hospital in San Francisco recovering from a small stroke that occurred at the base of the brain. The only damage "so far" seems to be to the part of the brain that controls the speech centers. So he has to enunciate carefully when he speaks, in order to be understood. There is also loss of awareness in the throat around the entrance to the windpipe. So he has to have liquids thickened slightly to prevent them from going down the wrong tube. The normal cough reflex has gone "temporarily, we hope". There is no apparent paralysis anywhere, and we all hope the damage that has occurred will repair. Sasha's left foot will need either surgery, the best course of treatment for his non-healing ulcers, or amputation, the thing we are hoping to prevent. All this is due to a circulatory problem, and the decision has to be made by the doctors very soon. Sasha somehow maintains his good humor and his loving disposition, bless him; only when his foot is painful does he lose his smile. We don't know when he will be back home, but we hope he will be released within a couple of days. Thank you for your concern and caring. We'll keep you informed.

Oh god. Thanks for informing me man. I have both the books and have loved Sasha for years, this seriously hurts me deeply. I'll be sending in a donation very soon. I don't pray but I'll do it for this occasion. Glad he's doing a bit better but still scares me.

Love ya Alex

I was just thinking 3 days ago It's gonna be a really sad day when he dies we'll lose a great mind and revolutionist in the science and psychedelic community and hero to many, now this happens. I'd donate money but every time I go to use paypals it says something about transferring 0.05 cents to my bank account and than I have to send them a letter or e-mail of verification to use it so I just gave up  . I'll keep him in my thoughts and spirit, stay strong Sasha the world still needs you!
