Dr. Greenthumb Seeds Cindy-99 (Pineapple cut) Grow Report

I received my seeds from Dr. Greenthumb and am starting a grow and smoke report on his Cindy-99 (Pineapple cut).
I have started germinating some of them and will make a full report as soon as they have sprouted.
Dr. Greenthumbs Cindy-99 was one of the top 10 strains of 2009 in High Times magazine, and is an S-1 backcross to a very special clone from original Brothers Grimm stock.

The legendary Cinderella 99, known as “the Cindy” for short, is once again available in seed form for anyone to experience. The Doc tells me that his “C-99/Cinderella is a selection from the most potent we’ve ever found in our tests with original Cinderella F1 seeds and their progeny. No C-99 we have tested has even come close to the resin production and high THC content on this special plant.” The terpene profile gives it a lime-pineapple smell with plenty of back end. Even though it’s slightly on the sativa side, C-99 still yields exceptionally well, especially outdoors. Give Cindy a ride – you won’t be disappointed.
Flowering time: 8 to 9 weeks

Hi Dr. Gruber, haven't heard from you in a while. Give me a shout.

Update:
There are three seedlings emerging from the soil as of now, so I figured it was safe to start the germination report.
I started soaking the seeds at 3:30 pm 6/10/10 in a shot glass sized solution of Botanicare's Liquid Karma at 1 tsp per gallon and 1/4 tsp gallon of Rootech cloning gel per gallon. The six seeds were placed in between moistened,folded papertowel's in an open Gladware container and then placed on a germination mat at 1:30 am 6/11/10. Three of the six were showing taproots between 1/8"-1/2" and were planted in 6"x6"x6.5" square pots filled with Fox Farms Happy Frog potting soil at 4:30 pm 6/12/10. The fourth seed was planted at 11:30 pm 6/13/10. The fifth seed was planted at 11:30 pm 6/14/10. I am still waiting for the sixth to crack, and will report when and if it is planted. I will start posting pictures as soon as they gain a few sets of true leaves.

Hi Porc,

Here are some pictures of my cindy from the doc. I was wondering if you could help me diagnose what my problem is?

It is now day 35 of flower, at about day 32 I noticed yellowing with brown spots at the top half of the plant, and it has spread downwards. The very top doesnt seem to have it yet though.

I'm growing in FFOF soil and using the fox farm line. I have been very easy on the nutes so far, so maybe its a deficiency of some sort..P or K perhaps?

It's possible It came on awhile before I noticed it because of that Mosaic/yellowing problem I told you about before, it made it hard to tell what was going on.

That looks like a hard one. The first thing I would do is check the Ph and EC of your runoff water and soil. It almost looks like the Ca/Mg issue I had awhile back when I had Calcium locking out just about everything because because my Ca level was so extremely high in my tapwater along with no magnesium. I knew my water was hard but I finally had a professional water test done, and that identified my problem and was able to go from there. You might just need a good flush and add some CalMag or some other Ca/Mg supplement.
Looks like pretty decent bud structure at 35 days though.
I would post those pictures in one of the help areas here on this forum and get some other opinions also.

I'm gonna have to go buy a decent ph meter. I have a four in one meter that you stick in the soil. I dont know how accurate it is but it says I'm at about 6.7.

I flushed today and I have already sprayed them with epsom salts...hope it works.

Quick update: There ended up being four that have cleared the substrate. The substrate on the other two was rock hard so I think I compacted the mix a little much. I haven't used Happy Frog for seedlings before, only for transplants. The four have their first set of true leaves and are coming on slowly but surely. I'll get pictures up once they get a couple sets of true leaves.

Did you germ by the Doc's instructions (tap root up, etc)?
Do you plan to top?
Did the Doc have anything to say about topping these ones?

Here are the three I am going to end up running. No nutrients used so far other than some Liquid Karma.

At the top of the picture, the plant on the left,top leaf, does it have a bit of the yellowing I was talking about?

they are looking good porcy.. i was thinking about going with drs c99, but went with his og kush instead.. i have to say that i'm nothing but pleased with the og.. hopefully the cindy will be as nice as the og.. dr gruber just turned me onto a new strain by the dr called sour 13, and i had to order some yesterday..

Yes I followed Doc's germination procedure.
I don't plan on topping them at the moment for the first run as I like to see the plants natural structure at least initially. I think Doc recommends not topping for the most part, but I have not asked him yet on this strain as it will be a little bit before they would be ready for that yet. I will let you know when I talk to him next.

i'll stay in touch with this thread. i also have some Joey Weed C99. they seems to be slow starters, i dunno. i has taken a week for them to show any progress. i am doing nothing different than always either. they are almost 2 weeks above ground and i only have 6-8 leaves on each 10 plants. i am going to feed here in a couple of days..

I too ordered c99s from the doc and ended up with two twins out of ten seeds. I actually called the doc to ask him about this and he said that is very strange. I guess not so strange since it happened to you as well.

Sorry about the delay. These pictures are almost a week old. I'll get current ones up in a day or so. The plants are two weeks into the flowering cycle in these pictures.

I got one twin also. It seems a little bushier than the rest with much closer internodal spacing. It still has very Sativa looking leaves like the others. I have held it back as initially it had a very slow growth rate and will try flowering it next round.

Here's the girls at 35 days in. Very Sativa!!! You can really start to smell the pineapple now.
