Drastic Change, Dead?

The young picture was taken on july 23, and the newest one, the sick one was just taken today. There were a couple orange leaves and I cut them off a couple of days before it turned all dry. Does anyone know whats the issues might be? I dont think heat is a possibilty, I had a fan running on the plant 24/7. I have 2 23 watts 1 42 watt on this single plant. Easily 3 inches away. As for water, i hadn't watered it for awhile so I gave it a bunch of water, but it didnt seem to change anything. The soil is Miracle Gro... it may have been old if that is an issue.

i dunno man, that thing looks terrible though. my guess would be some ph issue. either with the water or the old soil. that or the pot has crap drainage and water built up in the soil. and released tons of nutes and burned it out. its probably done for... i would just start anew.

ah thanks for the reply, i got a few more seeds germinating now, i bought some miracle gro organic soil so hopefully that will make a big difference. I used bottled water to water the plant... just checked and there was no dampness on the bottom half of the soil, the root system probably reached to the bottom of the pot, it went straight down, maybe I watered too much around the roots?

i doubt it was the roots. probably that soil. with the new soil you should do fine. myself and most of us here mix perlite with soil. like 15-20% in general. helps with aeration and drainage. as well as cutting some of the harshness of MG soil. as it can be strong and burn your plants. the organic is a bit easier on them than the normal though.
