Dried buds are super crunchy?

Got a newbie question here.....

I harvested my plant and it dried for about 5 days......when they were dry they became super brittle or crispy.

Is that normal or did I over dry them? I dried them until most of the stems snapped, but it seems as if they are over dry.

Is that normal? And is that something that curing them in the air tight jars will resolve?

any and all input is appriciated.

I had the same issue on my first grow. Put them in a jar and see if it helps. I also put a small amount of an orange peel in the jar for a day and it brought the buds back to a great moisture level.

sounds like maybe your humidity was too low should b about 40%...when the stems snap put in jars....glass jars are the shizzle

So it sounds like I shouldnt sweat it to much just yet, right?

They have been in the glass jars for 2 days now (burping as I should) and I have already noticed a tremendous change in the smell. It smells more fruity / dank like it should, so that is encouraging.

But you say the curing will soften it up a bit, so I will hang out and see how it looks over the next couple weeks.

curing draws moisture from the inner parts of the bud out. this will solve your crispiness. if for some reason this does not apply to your case, use a SMALL (dime size) piece of citrus or apple (each one will effect the smell a bit.. i like lime or grapefruit..) in the jar with your cannabis. it will humidify the jar and subsequently your product.

A piece of the fruit itself or of the peel?

Put your harvest in the jars first and see what happens. If you still think they are dry add a small piece of peel. I piece the size of say a business card and see if that helps. Monitor this everyday if you can...
