Am setting up a 10 pot drip system at the moment and am having problems with my rubber grommits leaking on the return end of the pot.I am using 19 mm grommits ,anybody know the size ,and more importantly ,what type of drill bit I should be useing?:wall:Any help appreciated.

I alsways use a size smaller than 19mm so the grommets fit very tightly. i also use a little liquid soap so they seat well. When you push your return pipe fitting through the hole use soap as well.
Never had one leak on me yet.

Good luck on your grow.

Are you doing drip to waste? If so can you share your watering times.. I would like to do a top drip feed drain to waste just not familiar with it I have done top drip recirculating with good success.

I would think Vaseline would not be a good idea as it is a petroleym based lubricant. It could contamintate your pots.

I use a top drip recirculating system similar to what you want to set up and don't have any problems.

Dish liquid or water based lube would be better.

Thanks for the responses,it is a recirculating system yes.I think the vaseline swells the rubber grommit just enough as to help seal it.?yes?maybe?

Ok ,pulled the whole fucking thing apart, annoying .put a little vas on all the rubbers and what I did was wrap all the fittings with Plumbers thred tape so as they were about 2 mm thicker in diameter , put the whole thing back together..... No probs , hopefully this will now work forever.and next time I guess I'll have to use a smaller drill bit...

You can always use a NSF61 safe epoxy to take care of any leaks. NSF61 is the standard for products that are considered " food grade" for instance water reservoirs ( Your Cities drinking Water ) are usually lined with a Ploypropylene liner that is NSF61 certified meaning it will not leach any toxins into the drinking water and what not. So anything NSF61 will be safe to use in your garden.
