Drooping + Crisp Leaves = Underwatering?

Hey guys I dont have a picture but let me paint the picture...

Plant is only 11 days old, about one in or so tall, its a nice greeen color, not light or dark. Im growing in ph of 6.6, with 6 CPL 6500k lights about 3in from the plant. They run 24/7 and the room is always a steady 75deg with a humidity of 25%-30%.

The fans are drooping right down to the soil and inward toward the stalk. Every where i go ive been reading to go easy and not overwater. So ive just been wattering when the soil gets dry. Which is normally everyother day to every three days. The plant feels crispy. I read that when you over water the leaves feel soft. Thats why I think the problem is under watering.

Story short I just gave them a good water and well see what happens tommorow morning.

Does this sound like over watering?

Nope, Sounds to me like like you did the right thing. Obviously you are new to growing but you have taken the time to do the research. I have learned a lot here over the last year and made journals to share with others. unfortunately I grow hydro and not give you sound advice however it sounds to me like you were so concerned about over watering you under watered your plant. congrats. It took me about a year to do that.

Its amazing, you will see tomorrow how fast they come back. Anyway I wasn't kidding. Its actually a good thing. What I have found is plants respond better to nutrients when you starve them a bit. Now you know how to do that and catch it in time.

On the other hand without a picture you could have other problems but a good watering and 24 to 48 hours later most plants come back.

Good Luck

I just snuck a peek, and the leaves are no longer touching the soil, they have moved upward about 1/4in. So I put just a lil more water on the top soil, it was dry allready. I think some of my problem is that my cab is too dry any thoughts on humidity?. Anyways ill try and snap a pic tommorow. Thanks for help. :bigjoint:

I think my soil is wacked out, or my lights just pound my plant so much. I can soak the soil, and in a matter of around 6 hours it be completely dry. The cab will go from 80% hum down to 25%ish. Just doesnt seem right... anyways ill get some pixs up tomorrow so check back in to confirm problem. I wish I knew how to +rep. =\

The same thing happened to me today, it def was underwatering. I looked at my baby today and she was drooping for the first time that I have ever seen, gave her some water, she was up to the light in ten minutes. you should be good.

What kind of H2O are you using? Filtered? If I had to make a bet without a picture I would say you need to repot to a larger pot. I think you might be a little root bound. One more question, what type and kind of soil are you using?

Im just using regular tap water, we live in a good city, so im clean but prob got some bad in it. Should I be using filtered water?

Im going down strairs to snap some pictures, but im growing in a red cup for now.

Aight heres the pictures...

First three is first plant and last three pictures is the second plant.

Problems:
Droopy Leaves
Crispy
Red Purple Stems (not sure which one)
Havent grown in few days?

Last night I laid the water to both of them, and then this morning I wake up and watered them both again. The first one stopped drooping to the ground and is slowly moving upward. I read that it should only take 12or so hours after you give it a good watering for it to make a full comeback, so im guessing that isnt my problem? But I might be just a little impatience.

The second plant is doing something weird, its actually older than the first plant but yet its small as hell? I moved it from its original soil to the current soil, I have a good look at the roots. Past the stem theres about 2in's of pure white root, then it turns into a slightly creamy small root system. I mean theres prob 20 or so small roots, but there no longer than .030 or so. Supper weird... what could be the problem? I am running these babies 24/7 and I was told to atleast give them some rest to obtain some root mass.

I turned the fan off last night to get the humidity up some with the water combination. I just checked the cab and its 80deg and 40% humidity.

Thanks fellows! :weed:

Yeah im beginning to think thats what it is. There now back down to the ground again now that I watered them again. Stuck the moister meter down to the bottom and its definitely holding some water down there. I think thats my real problem, 2-3in down its dry as a bone but last bit its an ocean down there. I have quite a few holes in the bottom of my cup, time for new soil?

One quick question, ive been checking PH level about 2-3 inchs down, where should I be checking if I have a probe with digi readout?

Another thing to think about is... are they too hot with nuits? Im using MG and ive read over and over how it burns the plants and makes them do funny things. I read that it mainly makes the new plants curl and slow the growth down, that sounds just like my second plant. Its stopped growing and its leaves have curled back to touch its self... =\

I live in a good city 2 but... my city H20 pH is 7.6-8. I couldnt get my seeds to grow in it, I switched to r.o. (Reverse Osmosis) water. You can buy it for .80-.90 cents a gallon at the store. This stuff made my plants TAKE OFF! If you switch to r.o. water, you need to add the nutes that you want your girls to drink. Its pure water with nothing in it so you will need to get some cal/mag to add to your nutes. You need the cal/mag every time you water.
Get them out of that cup ASAP and your problem will be solved. I will post some picts of mine latter today.
Good luck

possible too much light? 6 clfs at 24/7?

yeah..its just thirsty...good rule of thumb is to stick a finger in to the first knuckle..if you feel moisture let it be..if not give it some water...

ohhhhhhh....did i just read miracle grow...thats the reason for the discoloration and the browning on the tips...and raise your lights a little....even though its cfls 3in this young is too close..try about 10-12 and move closer as the plant grows...you meet it half way....
