Drooping leaves at night

Hello there,

Iam having problems with my hydroponics set up!!! HELP!!!

I have 9 plants (same strain), 5 in soil all OK and healthy, ALL 4.5 weeks old

The other 4 are in a hydroponic drip set up using clay balls, i started by giving them too much nutes at first 1800ppm, that made them go all yellow and curl up etc, i flushed the system and started again with a nute solution with only 600-700ppm, this sort of worked, the plants have started to grow new leaves and look reasonably healthy but at night (8hrs) all the leaves seem to droop a bit?????

Also there is a little tiny bit of yellowing at the tips of the new leaves??? the PH is about 7-7.5 (its hard to tell as iam using ph strips i need to get a digital tester i know)

Can anyone offer any HELP???

Would be greatly appreciated...

now when you say drooping do you mean leaves are pointing straight down ?!?! or they just tilted down abit?

When the plants have light/sun they reach for the sky and try to get closer to the light ..... at night there is no light so they kinda droop down.... dont know if thats what you mean ....

The yellowing tips could be a diff prob N but normally starts on old leaves not new ones.....

I'm no pro or nothing...... get a second opinion and pics are nice btw.

edit:
Magnesium
: Lower leaves turn yellow along the tips and margin and between the veins; the lower leaves wilt...
Nitrogen: Entire plant is light green in color; lower leaves are yellow; growth is stunted....

thanks for quick reply, they are just drooping a bit not pointing straight down,

but the 5 in soil dont droop at all at night???

also the yellowing i think is just from the overfertilisation at the start (when i was on 1800ppm) i have just changed the whole mixture to 200-400ppm and lowered the ph to 6, it was on 7.5,

i will be getting a digital camera so i can take pics,

i will see how they go for the next day or so and hopefully the yellowing will go if it gets worse then it must be a n diff and i will add some nitrozyme! do you think that is a good plan or would you add N now???

Thanks again

Umm good call on the PH.. if you think over fert was the problem for the yellowing then i would not add anymore N just yet as more ferts will hurt the plant further if that was the problem.

The PH being lowered i think was a good call tho plants seem to like being abit on the acidic side of the PH not by much tho :D

To be honest i dont have alot of experience just going off what i learned from this site .... gonna be starting back up in the summer my first grow was this year but the 2 plants turned male

lol yah sounds like things should work out for you .... you said in your first post they were getting healthier so sounds good lol

As for the drooping thing i have no idea but like i said could just be a simple fact of not having light .... i noticed that with my plants. Wake up in the morning and the leaves are slightly drooping then after the sun was on them for a few hours or so they started to reach for the sky again every day :P

I was thinking maybe they were getting water at night whent eh lights were off but that may not even be a problem for hydro cause the water just drips off the roots no ? i know if you water in soil at night or right before the sun goes down its not good for the plant "over waters"

if they are getting the same light as the ones in the soil then it's obviously the water... the drooping/heavy leaves just means they are not thirsty anymore :)

yes it's an old thread. but somebody may need this information 1 day
